Uganda government faces protests over water scarcity in Bukomansibi

Bukomansi woman MP Suzan Namaganda is organizing   another walk over water scarcity in her constituency on 29th of this month.

Namaganda told a press conference at parliament that she cannot sit back when her people are dying due to water scarcity.

Namaganda says that after writing to the minister in charge of water Maria Mutagamba and never get any response, she has no option now a part from organizing her people to demonstrate over their right.

She says if Mutagamba fails to respond by 29th of June 2011 she will go ahead and organize  a demonstration which will start at the town council head quarters and then people will walk with their jerricans to state house in Entebbe.

Namaganda says she has already informed the inspector general of police over her move although it is not clear whether police will allow the protest.

A jerrican of water in Bukomansimbi town council right now goes at 1000- 1500 shillings.  The water has been disconnected for the last two months over none payment by the district authorities.
