Uganda MP urges NEMA to step up fight against environmental degradation

The Woman Member of Parliament for Arua district, Christine Bako has urged the National Environmental Management Authority to step up its efforts in the fight against environmental degradation in Uganda.

Bako told Ultimate Media that NEMA should not look on as people encroach on wetlands in the name of investing because it degrades the environment.

She says NEMA also institute serious actions against people who degrade the environment to avoid the environment being continuously degraded.

The Arua district woman MP advises NEMA to also work with other departments of the government like the ministry of agricultural in issues like bush burning which are common amongst farmers sector to help fight environmental degradation in Uganda.

Environmental degradation in Uganda has been blamed on population increase and bad government policies by environmental activists.
