Uganda newspapers protest eviction fo street vendors

Newspaper managers and owners have joined a group of vendors to protest the eviction of vendors off the Kampala streets.

The exercise, which kicked off in the wee hours of this morning, has sparked off outcry from the vendors.

Today, managers of newspapers took their grievances to Kampala Capital City Authority offices, demanding for audience with the KCCA administration.

This is after most of the newspaper vendors had been evicted from the streets.

Among the managers was New Vision’s Executive Director, Robert Kabushenga and Daily Monitor’s Managing Director, Dr. Githinji Gitahi, who sought audience with KCCA Executive Director, Jennifer Musisi Semakula.

Kabushenga and Githinji said the move would affect their sales as they heavily depend on the vendors to make sales.
