The apology follows complaints from the public over the new parliament led by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga’s decision to chase the media when discussing increasing their emoluments.

Addressing a press conference at Parliament, Parliament today, the communications manager Helen Kawesa said that since the Speaker does not attend caucus meetings, holding a closed session with MPs to discuss some issues was the only chance for them.

She however said it is not going to be a norm for the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga to always hold closed sessions and that the media is free to cover parliamentary proceedings.

Parliament last Thursday unusually threw out journalists to discuss their alleged shs192m car each among other issues. But Kawesa says the matter of purchasing new vehicles for MPs was not concluded as the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has to approve.
