Police in Jinja district, Eastern Uganda have shot dead a notorious suspected robber, who has been on police wanted list.

The deceased has been identified as Francis Ajere, a resident of Kakira town council in Mukono district.
The spokesperson of police in charge of SouthEastern Regional, Samson Lubega says Ajere was netted from Mwiri forest where he was hidding after robbing a bicycle from a Kakira sugar works employee.
He says the police had a fierce fight with the thug who targeted the police men with arrows before he was shot in the legs.
Lubega says it was not the police’s intention to kill the suspect but his reaction prompted the police officers to open gun fire on him.
