Uganda Police warns drivers to guard against wave of new car robberies

Police have warned drivers across the country of a new wave of car robberies as the year comes to an end.

Police Chief Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura says that the police have unearthed information that car thieves are going to be in full swing during the Christmas season.

Kayihura however says that the police have deployed heavily around the country to curb cases of car robberies.

The Major General told informers that they too must be careful because the robbers may want to kill them in order to conceal evidence of the robbery.

Last week the police in Kampala arrested one of the suspected car robbers in town, Norman Ninsiima after he reportedly conspired with his friends and robbed Toyota Premio belonging to Denis Ahimbisibwe, a businessman in town.

Kayihura says that car thieves many times first befriend vehicle owners or drivers before they conduct the robberies.
