Uganda Revenue Authority fails to meet tax target

URA boss Allen Kagina

The Uganda Revenue Authority failed to collect its revenue collection target in the month of April 2010.

The Uganda’s tax collection body collected only 352 billion shillings in April instead of its target of 371 billion shillings.

The Assistant Commissioner in Charge of Corporate Affairs, Sarah Banage says there was a shortfall of 20 billion shillings that was needed before the end of April.

She attributes the shortfall in revenue collection to corporation tax and manufacturing sector.

Banage says the 20 billion shillings shortfall was because many businesses in Uganda were still recovering from the recent global financial crisis.
