Ugandan Rotarians have joined fellow Rotarians across the world to solicit funds, which will help African countries eradicate polio.

The chairperson and National coordinator of the Global polio eradication initiative in Uganda, Henry Kyemba says they are soliciting 200 million US dollars to add on to the 900 million US dollars which their counterparts from other countries across the world have contributed.

He says the money will be given to developing countries to help eradicate polio.

Kayemba adds that the campaign in Uganda will kick off on 10th this month in various places, where immunization of children will also be taking place.

Last year Uganda’s neighbors registered several cases of polio including Sudan, which recorded 45 cases of wild polio, Kenya 19, DRC 3 and Burundi 2.

Uganda also recorded eight cases of the deadly disease, all of which originated from the neighboring countries.
