Uganda to extradite illegal immigrants

 

 

President Museveni has directed Uganda’s ministry of internal affairs to extradite illegal migrants from India, China and Pakistan.

Many illegal immigrants were arrested in Uganda last week after migration officers stormed their shops in Kampala. The operation was led by the Commissioner of Inspection and Legal Affairs, Josephine Ekwang. Those arrested were mostly Indians, Chinese, Pakistanis and Germans among others. The arrested suspects were taken to the immigration head offices in Kampala for further screening, interrogation and extradition.

The president directed the migration officers to arrest and deports all foreigners with expired travel documents or lwork permits. Majority of the foreigners in Uganda are dealing in small scale businesses like selling mobile phones and shoes. Ugandan has been demanding government to crackdown on illegal immigrants dealing in petty businesses.
