Ugandans cautioned to remain vigilant against deadly Ebola virus

Ugandans have been called to remain vigilant against the deadly Ebola virus, although the ministry of health has declared the country Ebola free.

In an exclusive interview, the assistant commission integrated curative services in the ministry of health Dr. Jackson Amone says the public should take the necessary precautions against Ebola virus by not eating meat of dead animals.

He assured the public that despite the fact that Uganda is Ebola free, the country is not yet safe and has therefore no capacity to hand the disease in case of an outbreak  especially in the central region.

This warning comes a few days after the ministry of health declared the country Ebola free at the expiry of 42 days since the 12 year old girl suspected to be Ebola disease died early last month.

In 2007 Ebola virus hit the country claiming the lives of over 30 people in western Uganda.
