UNEB solicits funds from public to pay its staff

Things are hard in government offices in Uganda these days. The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has failed to raise the required money to pay examiners claiming that there is no money, yet all Primary 7, Senior 4 and Senior 6 candidates were required to pay UNEB fee before sitting for these papers.

Sources at UNEB told us this morning that no marking of exams has gone on for Primary 7, Senior 4 and Senior 6. At the same time data machines at UNEB have crashed, causing crisis at UNEB.

The Executive Secretary of UNEB, Mathew Bukenya says his body is working on the problem of technical fault. UNEB is currently soliciting funds from well wishers to procure new computer hardware and software, hire technicians, and to pay staff.
