UNRA to erect six weighing bridges on Uganda roads

Trailers required not to overlaod

In a bid to stamp out over loading among transporters on Ugandan roads, the Uganda National Roads Authority is now set to acquire new six weigh bridges to help in taking weights on trucks along Uganda’s roads.

According to Eng. Geofrey Obara, the manager axle load control project, the new equipment will be planted on all major high ways which will be taking uniform measurements and  will be inter connected to each other for easy surveillance.

Obara says that they are also harmonizing laws on weigh bridges that will be used in all EAC member states.

The authority is commissioning this weekend the Luwero weigh bridge which cost a total of 2.6 billion Uganda shillings.

Truck drivers have for long been complaining about the weighing bridges used by UNRA to take weight measurements which they say are inaccurate.
