USA to improve funding for health in Uganda

The US deputy Ambassador to Uganda Madam Virginia Blaser has criticized the government of Uganda for reducing budget allocation to the health sector at the time when HIV/AIDS prevalence is reported to on the increase.
Blaser notes that that government action is contrary to the Abuja declaration requiring government to commit 15% of its budget to build health sector.
She asserts that Uganda needs to be more proactive about the countries health problems and allocate more funds to the sector.
Speaking in Kampala today, Blaser announced that the US government has resolved to invest 400 million US dollars to improve Uganda’s health sector.
She was speaking during celebration to mark the United States 236 independence anniversary at the American Embassy in Nsambya, Kampala.
