Why do Ugandans resort to witchdoctors to solve domestic and financial problems?

The people living in the districts of Rwenzori region have resorted to witch doctors and traditional healers to solve their domestic and financial problems.

Kapere Wilson 72 years a resident of Rugombe in Bugaki sub county Kyenjojo district explains that he started visiting witch doctors while he was 15 years old.

Kapere says that the witch doctors have helped him operate a successful business that has enables him educate his twins up to university level.

Karuhanga Philip a resident of Mujunju village in Kibiito town council in Kabarole district says that his late grandfather is the one who advised him to visit a witch doctors shrine before getting married.

Karuhanga reveals that the witch doctors have helped him acquire wealth which has helped him sustain his family.

However a renowned witch doctor in the region Dr Kabooko Bigondo a Tanzanian origin says that he migrated to region following a public’s cry out for traditional healers.

Dr Kabooko who receives over 20 clients per day says that most of the people come to solve cases of domestic violence, theft, land disputes among others.

He dismisses claims that witch doctors are only interested in money and sacrifice.
