World Bank country manager Ahmdou Moustapha Ndaiye warns on corruption

The World Bank has spoken out on the reports of alleged financial mismanagement in the different government ministries threatening to take serious action.

According to the country manager Ahmdou Moustapha Ndaiye, appropriate action shall be taken in cases where the alleged graft affects the World Bank funding system.

Ndaiye says they will carry out independent investigations to establish whether the reported scam has any effect on the World Bank funded projects.

He adds that they have already identified corruption as a risk and major impediment to development and will be more cautious when donating money for future projects.

Speaking to journalist Ndaiye noted that such incidences are bound to affect donor relations.

The World Bank warning comes just days after the Irish gov’t, one of Uganda’s biggest donors withdrew aid amounting to 70 billion shillings over graft allegations in the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Finance.
