World Bank warns Uganda on high population growth dangers

World Bank country director in Uganda, Kundhavi Kadiresan is tasking the government to set up clear systems to check on the country’s rapid population growth.

Kundhavi reveals that the country is having the highest fertility rate compared to other countries in the world which makes it difficult for the available resources to be shared among this high population.

Kundhavi also adds that a number of mechanisms need to be put in place mentioning increase in efforts to educate a girl child to enable them know the dangers of giving birth to many children, creating employment opportunities for people among other mitigations.

The institution anticipates that by 2050 numbers are likely to grow to 100 million people something that might hinder the chances of Uganda to grow.
