Youth MPs to attend Young Leaders Assembly in Washington

Uganda’s Youth Members of Parliament are slated to attend the International Young Leaders Assembly in Washington DC, in United States later this year.

According to a notice about the Assembly, the meetings organized by the Global Peace Foundation will bring together over one thousand young leaders from around the world to be held at the World Bank, Capitol Hill, State Department and at the UN headquarters in New York.

Deputy Speaker, Jacob Oulanyah, is expected to for the second time address the Assembly organized under the theme: ‘Moral and Innovative Leadership, Vision, Service and Entrepreneurship’.

The delegation of the Youth MPs to the US will include; Western region Youth MP Mpaka Mwine, Eastern region Youth MP Ishma Mafabi, Northern region Youth M, Oscar Omwony,Female National Youth MP Anna Adeke and Central region Youth MP Sarah Babirye Kityo .

Mwine who leads the delegation in an interview said they hope to learn from the experiences of other young leaders from elsewhere in the world, adding that Young leaders are tired of following; it is time for them to lead.

He also said that through training, the youth MPs will become better representatives of their constituents.
The International Young Leaders Assembly is a premier partnership driven leadership development initiative that empowers promising young professionals, leaders and policy makers to positively impact on communities, nations and the world.

The Assembly hosts Young Parliamentarians, Youth entrepreneurs, student leaders and CSOs for interactive programmes with significant leaders and institutions.

The Assembly is however different from the Young African Leaders’ Initiative, which specifically targets leaders from Africa.
