Garlic (or alliums sativum) is a wonder plant and it’s a member of the Lily family and perhaps a cousin to onions and leeks.

Garlic prevents and treats many diseases

Alliums sativum (garlic) may help to improve iron metabolism because the daily sulfides in it can help increase production of protein called FERROPORTION.

Garlic is what scientists call aseleniferous plant since it can uptake selenium from the soil even when the soil concentrations don’t favour this uptake.

The cardio-protective benefits of garlic may partly rest on the production of hydrogen sulfide gas, and it can also help to regulate the number of fat cells that get formed in our body. The unique sulfur compounds in garlic have along been recognised as having anti-inflammatory properties.

How to keep a cold at bay? Keep the neck, shoulders, ears and head warm.

Cause your body to sweat, drink hot herbal teas but green tea is the best according to the world health experts.

Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day and once a week eat a plant-based diet. Go for garlic, drink yogurt, cheese and or milk for your body to function well, and produce heart.

Take vitamin C to boost your body immunity, supplement your diet with zinc daily to aid proper immunity.

Cut your sugar intake. A teaspoon of sugar can lower your body immunity.

In our first issue on garlic, we told you that dried and or powered garlic boosts your immunity, and to get most out of garlic, it is recommendable that you consume it in raw form.

But in this issue, we are concentrating on the benefits of consuming a piece of garlic for a day.

A clove of garlic a day keeps ailments at bay. Many people always shun garlic for its strong smell that leaves a bad breath.

Garlic is the oldest known medical plant with innumerable health benefits. That is its chemical compound, allicin, which is known to have wonderful anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-oxidant properties.

Garlic provides minerals for example selenium and manganese, and vitamin C which provides protection from free radical damages.

Our health news team today is informing you how garlic can better be used to get most out of it. Several herbal clinics, hospitals and small health centres recommend people to add garlic on their daily menu.

To get most out of garlic, it is recommendable that people consumes or eats in its raw form.

Medical experts say that garlic should be finely chopped or crushed before it is eaten. Get chopped or crushed garlic and add it to food shortly before serving starts.

The cooking and microwaving garlic degrades its alcidine and reduces its potential benefits. Alternatively, you can also take dried or powdered garlic tablets to boost your body immunity to diseases.
