It seems former minister Nathan Igime Nabeta is block. This has been exhibited by the speed at which he is exposing off his properties.

We are told that after losing Jinja East MP by elections to FDC’s Paul Mwiru, Nabeta started selling off most of his houses, land and cars to settle debts he had incurred during the elections.

Sources tell us that Nabeta shocked journalists when he sold off his most valued property, NBS TV to city business tycoon, Hajji Mohammad Kalisa.

We are told that Nabeta sold NBS tv to Kalisa at a tune of 4.7 billion shillings. The business man has also bought off an online media company called www.256news.com at 50 million shillings.

Kalisa is one of the presidential assistants in charge of information technology.

Mwiru, the Forum for Democratic Change candidate, defeated NRM’s Nathan Igime Nabeta in last week’s by-election in Jinja. Mwiru bagged 6,758 votes against Nabeta’s 6,057. The second runner up in the race was DP’s Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro.

Mwiru, a third time contestant in the race, stood on the floor of parliament with only five people as he sworn in.

Outside parliament, hundreds of supporters of FDC chanted anti government and pro FDC songs. The speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga welcomed Mwiru to the 9^th parliament and wished him a nice stay in August house.

Besigye in a letter he has written to Mwiru today alleges that NRM, the party Nabeta subscribes to has lost public trusts so Nabeta to survive in politics he should think of joining FDC.

Besigye in the letter told Nabeta that FDC is a good party that is why the winner of the last Thursday polls in Jinja East Paul Mwiru has forgiven Nabeta over issues of his academic qualifications, and the costs of the case which Nabeta lost to Mwiru.

Museveni has reportedly summoned Nabeta after Nabeta announced yesterday to members of the press that he is quitting active politics such that he concentrates on his private businesses including NBS TV. Mwiru beat Nabeta with a margin of 1,701 votes. A source has told us that Museveni plans to meet Nabeta next Saturday.

We have been told that Museveni wants Nabeta to contest for Jinja East in the next polls because Museveni feels Nabeta is still the suitable NRM candidate for the post.

Nabeta lost his parliamentary seat last month after the High Court nullified his 2011 parliamentary election victory for lack of minimum academic qualifications.

For example, the report shows that the FDC members from the northern Uganda lied the people of northern Uganda who are voters in Jinja that Nabeta gave out free transport to people who wanted to grab land from northern Uganda. This angered them and vowed not to support Nabeta anymore.

The report also shows that FDC lied to the fishermen that it was Nabeta who introduced the tax levied on their boats. The report goes further to allege that NRM lost the polls because of the corruption among public officials. Lastly the report shows that some of the NRM members refused to support the ruling party candidate and instead supported an opposition candidate.

The loser of the Thursday parliamentary by elections in Jinja East, Nathan Igime Nabeta has threatened to petition court challenging the out come of the Thursday polls that was won by Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate Paul Mwiru.

 Nabeta who lost the polls with a margin of 2000 votes alleges that Mwiru bribed his way to victory. Nabeta bagged 6,057 votes while Mwiru bagged 7,715 votes.

 His pals also tell us that Nabeta developed the pressure on the day the High Court cancelled his parliamentary victory over vote rigging and voter bribery.

  We are told that Nabeta has lost appetite and is on drugs. The electoral commission has declared 9^th February as the poling date for the by elections. The race is between Nabeta (NRM), Paul Mwiru (FDC) and Waiswa Mufumbiro of DP.

 The seat went vacant after the High Court nullified the election victory of Nathan Igime Nabeta over voter bribery.

 Over three candidates are eying for the seat. These include Nabeta (NRM), Mwiru Paul (FDC) and Mufumbiro Waiswa (DP).

 The electoral commission chairperson, Eng. Badru Kiggundu says that the commission expects the voters to remain peaceful during and after the exercise.

The DP president General, Norbert Mao says that DP has got money from its supporters to mobilize voters in Jinja East to vote out NRM candidate who would be fronted to replace Nabeta.

Mao says that since DP won Luweero district woman MP by election race, it can not fail to take over victory in Jinja East. Mao tells our informers that his party will ride on Luweero election victory to defeat NRM in Jinja.

Mao further tells informers that his party is now very united and popular so NRM should get prepared to receive political retirement after ‘being defeated by DP in Jinja East.

The three judges led by Constance Byamugisha cited the lack of requisite academic qualifications and voter bribery to nullify Nabeta’s election.

The judges faulted the High Court in Jinja for reaching at a wrong decision when it dismissed a petition filed against Nabeta by Paul Mwiru of the Forum for Democratic Change.

Jinja High Court Judge Monica Mugenyi on June 28th dismissed Mwiru’s petition for lack of evidence to support the petitioner’s claims of voter bribery and lack of minimum academic papers.

Mwiru lost to Nabeta in the February 2011 parliamentary elections.

But the Court of Appeal judges evaluated the evidence on record adduced by Mwiru’s lawyers, Joseph Kyazze and Ambrose Tebyasa and ruled that the National Council for Higher Education breached the law when it accepted Nabeta’s certificate of A-Level equivalent without consulting the UNEB.

The judges also addressed their mind on the bribery evidence against Nabeta and found out that it was sufficient enough to succeed in the High Court.

Mwiru had told court that Nabeta gave out compressors and wielding machines to four garages in his constituency during campaigns, which amounts to a bribe.

The judges ordered Nabeta to pay Mwiru costs of the petition.
