The speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga wants government to put in place a special fund for sponsoring persons with disabilities at the university.

Kadaga says there are many persons with disabilities who pass with good grades but cannot make it to the university due to lack of funds.

Kadaga says once such a fund is put in place it will help reduce the levels of illiteracy among persons with disabilities.

In a related development the speaker promises to consider amending bills concerning persons with disability like the building control bill next year.

She says she want persons with disabilities to enjoy their full rights just like other able bodied Ugandans.

The Association of Ugandans living in South Africa (AUSA) has organised a seminar in which the participants are expected to expose all president Museveni’s mistakes and name all people his government has reportedly killed since 1986.
This long awaited seminar will be held in Johannesburg South Africa. The invited guests for this seminar started arriving to Johannesburg on Wednesday. The seminar will run under the theme: “The role of the Youth in the social, economic and political development of Uganda in the post 50 years of independence.” The week long seminar shall be held on 21st/09/2012 (Friday).
Many Ugandans across South Africa are expected to embrace the seminar.
Sources told us that the small peace some Ugandans enjoy today was fought for by the youth of 1980s and the elders of that time were always by their side giving them advice.  So it is high time the youth of today create a legacy of the 21st century.

The landslides victims in Bududa district go without meals some days according to area local council leaders, MPs and opinion leaders.

The area local leadership told our informers in the area that the food stuffs the central government and non governmental organisations gave to them was not enough. The children of the people of Bududa are also malnourished due to poor feeding.

However the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social affairs, Prof. Tarsis Kabwegyere recently told journalists that it is not the government’s responsibility to look after the landslides victims (read the people who were affected by land slides).

“If they can not feed themselves after receiving government’s assistance, let them eat monkeys and rats,” Kabwegyere, who is also former disaster minister says.

The Director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) ms Jenifer Musisi Semakula is a member of the ruling National Resistance Movement as well as a civil servant. As you may know the political hatred in Uganda amongst political parties is high, no one would expect that Ms Musisi would sit in a corner with the leaders of opposition Democratic Party and talk business.

But this happened. The president of DP Norbert Mao, Legal Advisor Mukasa Denis Fred Mbidde and DP secretary general Mathias Nsubuga on Tuesday met with Ms Musisi and they discussed issues concerning reconciliation and development of Kampala.

The meeting took place at City Hall building inKampala. Top on the agenda was to forge a good working relationship between Musisi and Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago. Lukwago did not attend the meeting because he is out of the country on official assignment. Ms Musisi told the DP squad that she has no personal vendetta with Lukwago. She explained that it’s Lukwago who seems to have a personal hatred on her. Mbidde says that after they have got the side of Musisi, they will also summon Lukwago to give them his views and after they try to reconcile the rivalKampalaleaders.

The Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister, Maj. Gen.Kahinda Otafire has reportedly started defending homosexuals; a practice looked as a taboo in Uganda.

Otafiire yesterday told a press conference in Kampala that the government should go slow on enacting a law that out laws homosexuality and lesbianism.

The minister says that he is aware that homosexuality is satanic, demonic, immoral and ungodly but enacting anti homosexual law would be difficult to implement.

Otafiire who is a lawyer told the press that even if the law against homosexuality is in place to prove in Court that a person is a homosexual is difficult. So he asked the religious leaders and traditional leaders and moralists not to develop pressure over the vice and leave the matter to God who will judge homosexuals on the judgment day.
