Menopause is a time of freedom from the menstrual cycle and the onset of wisdom and power. It is caused by aging, eating disorder, extraordinary intense exercise or physical training, ovarian disease, surgical removal of the ovaries usually as part of a hysterectomy, hypo-functioning adrenal glands.

Recommended diet (food) for early menopause: Eat a diet loaded with plant foods, especially whole grains, legumes, fresh vegetables and fruits.

The above foods (read diet) contain phytosterols, naturally occurring nutrients that have a hormone-balancing effect. Eat soya beans, tofu, miso and flaxseeds, all of which are excellent sources of phytoestrogens.

Vitamin E regulates estrogen production. Make sure to include cold-pressed nut and seed oils in your diet, perhaps as a dressing for a green salad.

Drink a glass of clean water every two walking hours. You will flush out toxins and replace fluids you may have lost during hot flashes.

Scientists have discovered that the increasing cases of erectile dysfunction (or person’s inability to maintain an erection for sexual intercourse is a sign for heart disease, stroke, diabetes and high blood pressure.

In many cases erectile dysfunction is caused by causing restricted blood flow in the man’s private parts thus causing poor erection.

Researchers say that erectile dysfunction in some cases is also caused by surgical removal of the prostate gland and surrounding tissue as treatment for prostate cancer. They pronounce that the removal of the prostate gland may cause urinary incontinence and finally erectile dysfunction.

Other causes of erectile dysfunction are smoking, drug and alcohol abuse. These compromise the blood vessels of the penis, leading to poor performance in bed.

The scientists at Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research say that erectile dysfunction is a medical problem if it persists.

The psychologists link sexual dysfunction to depression, old age, child abuse, relationship difficulties, guilt, body image issues, worrying about failure to satisfy a partner, ulcers, poverty and fear to contract sexually transmitted diseases like syphilis and AIDS.   While the neurologists attribute erectile dysfunction to poor health conditions such as spinal cord, back injuries and dementia. The neurologists say that these conditions affect the transfer of nerve impulses from the brain to the penis.

An operation is needed for barren women so that they can become pregnant. It is certain that a woman can be pregnant even after such an operation.

The removal of fibroids enhances the chances of a woman getting pregnant, especially when there is no other problem causing the infertility.

This so if a woman is in her fertile early 20s, and she has no complications like infections or bad scars that may involve the fallopian tubes following surgery.

The doctors say that it is useful to remove fibroids after doing tests to see whether the fallopian tubes are patent (clear) since blocked tubes are a common cause of infertility in Uganda and in East Africa.

On several occasions the removal of a certain type of fibroids found near the inside of the womb (sub mucosal fibroid) have a successful outcome with many getting pregnant but not other types of fibroids. For how long a woman should wait before trying to get pregnant after surgery depends on the number, size and location of fibroids.

However it is advisable that a woman gets pregnant within three to six months after the operation is done because waiting too long might not help much as the fibroids might grow again.

After the down fall of the greatest son of Africa and Libyan leader, Col. Muammar Gadaffi, the republic of Uganda now is walking in his former foot steps with a plan to establish the United States of Africa (USA), Walakira Nyanzi reports.

The plan to oust him is being championed by his very archival, Paphrous Imodot Edimu who is backed by a group of some royals in Teso. Edimu has told journalists in Teso that they have been forced to fight Emorimor because of his reported refusal to organise polls and pave way for his successor. Edimu says that the post of Emorimor is elective and that the current Emorimor has over stayed on the chair.

The term of office for the current Emorimor expired in 2009. The term of office for the Emorimors lasts for only five years. Edimu says that whenever they attempt to organise fresh elections, the current Emorimor uses police and area politicians to frustrate the function.

He says that last year the current Emorimor used the area RDC to disband the election of a new Emorimor which was to take place in Lukikho hall, in Soroti. Edimu however vows that the current Emorimori will be replaced by February this year. By Moureen Nakyanzi
