Members of opposition in Uganda want the government to release a report on a woman who jumped to death at Workers House building in Kampala. The police launched its investigations into the circumstances under which a 26-year old woman, Justine Nalugya committed suicide by jumping from the 14th Floor of the Workers House in Kampala.

She had a black bag that was lying near her body. Late Justine Nalugya was a resident of Kamuli zone in Kireka, Wakiso district. The legal Advisor of DP, Mukasa Fred Denis Mbidde says the members of opposition want the government to release a report about Nalugya’s death detailing what the government can do in future to curb suicide.

Central Police Station commander, James Ruhweza says that the police is not yet in position to release a report because the information about the deceased was still scanty. He says the police have pictures and the sketch of the place Nalugya died. Her body was taken to Mulago hospital for a postmortem report.

The policeman says the preliminary   report indicates that arrived at the 14th Floor of the building that accommodates the NSSF offices and registered in the visitors’ book at about 11.00am in the names of Olivia Nalugya (although it was later discovered that she was Justine Nalugya). According to the visitors’ book, Nalugya wanted to meet some one called Peter. Nalugya according to details at the police stood near a balcony at the 14th Floor, looking down. She then looked up before throwing down her bag, shoes and immediately after pulled her skirt up and jumped to her death. There was a big bang and she did not say a word or move. The whole place was littered with brains, meat and blood.

Shock and grief befell on people of Kampala on Friday morning when a woman jumped from the 14th floor of Workers House building and died.

The woman was identified as Justine Nalugya, a resident of Kampala district. The relatives to the deceased said that Nalugya was so stressed because she had a degree from Makerere University but she had not been employed for the last three years. Rose Nambi, a relative to the deceased told the people who had gathered at the scene of suicide that Nalugya walked to Workers House this morning expecting to get a job.

“She told us that a certain friend of hers called Peter had promised to connect her to a job today Friday. She had even mobilized funds from us to bribe the employer for the job. It seems when she reached there she discovered that Peter had conned her and she decided to end her life,” she hopes.

The deceased was dressed in a black skirt and a yellow blouse. She first folded her skirt and threw her bag down before jumping to her death. The police are hunting for a man identified as Peter to help it with its investigations. The problem is that there are 18 men at Workers House with a name Peter. So the police have found it hard to establish which Peter the deceased had gone to see. The police have taken Nalugya’s body to Mulago hospital.

The Rwandese national and a resident in Kibaale district was admitted at Kagadi hospital nursing severe wounds after his genitals were cut off for allegedly committing adultery.

Mr. Daniel Habwalimana Byaruhanga of Nyamarunda in Buyanja County had his private parts chopped off by one Munyaneza who allegedly found him sleeping with his wife at Nyamuranda trading center.

Munyaneza’s wife denied sleeping with Byaruhanga. She told the police that Byaruhanga had just paid her a visit and her husband thought he was her boyfriend. Police arrested Munyaneza as investigations in the case continue. Byaruhanga’s genitals are now being kept in a deep freezer as exhibit.

Family has been reportedly ambushing people, robs of their properties, kills them and then secretly buries them in banana plantations. The bodies have been exhumed by the Police today, walakira Nyanzi reports.

The discovery of the bodies shocked people. The bodies were found in a banana plantation owned by a medical assistant, Wilson Karaira, a resident of Kajara cell in Kanungu district. Kanungu is the place where a man called Joseph Kibwetere burnt live over 1000 people in 2000.

The police have arrested Karaira’s wife, Gorret Kabaza, and her two sons Philip Asiimwe and Francis Monday in connection with the robberies and murders. Other suspects are on the run.

Eye witnesses told the media that some of the bodies exhumed had been stripped naked and their genitals chopped off. Traditionalists tell the media that it seems the people behind the murder chopped off the genitors and put them in shrines to stop the spirits from attacking them.

The police say that the owners of the land to disguise the graves planted banana plantations on them. To a non member of the family, the graves were hard to be seen.

The bodies discovered were decomposed and could not easily be identified. The police have told the media that the members of this family according to preliminary investigations would ambush bicycle riders, loaded businessmen and women, motorcycle riders and sometimes they would invite rich people in their homes, murder them and take the money they might have moved with.

A woman committed suicide and was found dead in her bed. Jacqueline Nansubuga, a resident of Namasuba Kalina Zone was found dead by her family members who had gone to her room to greet her on Thursday.

She left behind a note. It read: “A note to police and my family members. I am sorry to have killed myself. But it was because of debts.”

Nansubuga had made similar complaints to her family members last week when she met her parents in Bunamwaya, Wakiso district. Nansubuga in the note indicated that she had a bank loan she had failed to service and she had no job.

A bottle containing poison was found bedside her bed when the police and residents entered her house. The police are not looking for killers because there is evidence that Nansubuga killed herself.

Her family members and some neighbours have recorded statements. John Kanyike, a brother to the deceased says the deceased would be buried in Masaka on Friday. The police have taken the body to Mulago National Referral hospital for a postmortem.
