Kasanda County South MP, Simeo Nsubuga, last week accused the opposition for being behind the attacks and humiliation of MPs who debate and discuss on the issue of lifting the age limit of the President.

This was during the plenary sitting in Parliament last week as he explained circumstances for his scuffle in Mubende where a one ‘Kyuma Kya Yesu’ almost roughed him up during the 25^th Kabaka Ronald Mutebi’s Coronation ceremony.

Nsubuga claims that it is the opposition that is fueling such attacks accusing them of inciting the public at the rallies on their ongoing sensitization campaigns about the constitution amendment bill 2017 in regard to government forceful acquisition of land from the owners.

However, citing the example of Minister Kahinda Otafire’s incident at Namboole where he where leaders splashed with water during a Local Government meeting, the Opposition Chief Whip, Ibrahim Semujju Nganda, says the opposition cannot be accused of the growing anger amongst the public against their leaders.

Otafire was quick to respond emphasising that it is the opposition that humiliated him at Namboole especially those from FDC.

Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker, Jacob Oulanya, retaliated and cautioned MPs to desist from discussing issues in anticipation for their own safety.

The State Minister for Internal Affairs, Obiga Mario Kania, says Simeo’s incident is being investigated by police that will come with a report over it.

Member of Parliament for Bunya East in Mayuge district, Waira Majegere

The Member of Parliament for Bunya East in Mayuge district, Waira Majegere, has called for the disbanding of a notorious Boda boda group commonly known as Boda Boda 2010 which he says is in the habit of  mistreating  and harassing  other boda boda readers in the country.

Majegere told last week informed Parliament that this bodaboda group is going around beating up, harassing, arresting bodaboda riders and extorting money from them.

He pointed out that they arrested one bodaboda rider, Karim Nyago, in Makindye and confiscated his motor cycle while  demanding from him 100,000 shillings for his release.

He asked the minister of security to investigate the operations of bodaboda 2010 and why they put laws in their hands

He said that such illegal acts of bodaboda 2010 calls for the law regulating the bodaboda operations.

State Minister for Internal Affairs, Obiga Kania, however told Parliament that he has never heard about such a group but promised to investigate the matter.

The 2.8 billion shillings machine that has been commissioned today by the state minister for Internal affairs, Obiga Kania, can handle up to 100 samples a day and produce the results in five minutes.

While commissioning the machine at the government analytical laboratory in Wandegeya, Kania noted that there will now be ease in detecting complex crimes.

Kania also revealed that scientists will be able to detect the type of poison and avert preventable deaths.

In a related development, the director government analytical laboratories Kepher Kuchana Kateu and the commissioner Tarsis Byamugisha reveal that the machine which costed over 2 billion Uganda shillings will speed up on the case reported over toxication though it now calls for much more funding as the reagents used to carry out tests call for huge sums of money.
