FUFA Spokesperson Rogers Mulindwa and Works Minister Abraham Byandaala have entered a partnership in which the two leaders will run a joint annual football tournament in Luweero district cod-named ‘MULINDWA-BYANDAALA CUP’.

The deal was sealed yesterday during the official closure of the 6th edition of ‘Mulindwa R Cup’ at Ngogolo play ground, Butuntumula Sub County in Luwero district.

Minister Byandaala was chief guest at a final between Luweero Vipers and Ngogolo FC.

Luweero Vipers edged Ngogolo 2-1 to lift this year’s cup.

Minister Byandaala pledged more commitment towards the joint tournament and offered Shs.250.000 in cash prizes to the winners

In order for the youth of Buruli to internalize and conceptualize ‘Buluri culture emancipation,’ and promote their talents, the cultural leader of Buluri Mwasansozi Mwogezi Butamanya has organised a football tournament for all sub counties in Buluri sub region to compete.

The winning team will take a Buduuli cup and other gifts, also teams that will perform well and players will go away with gifts. This arrangement, according to sources, will cost 1 3,522000 shillings. By the fact that Buluri kingdom is still at infancy stage, their budget is inadequate and we are told the kingdom as Sabaluri calls it has failed to raise the amount of money needed. So on behalf of the kingdom Sabaluli has requested president Museveni to contribute towards this initiative so that the people of Buluri achieve their goal.

Women across the world cerebrated the woman’s day on Thursday March 8, 2012. In Uganda there is a group of women who made news headlines last year so we bring them to you today.

Lady Justice Sebutinde

Ms Sebutinde was the first Ugandan judge to get elected to the International Court of Justice. She got all eyes on her when she sat at the Hague-based UN Special Court for Sierra Leone, and tried the former Liberian President Charles Taylor.

Ms Flavia Namakula

She is one of the Ugandan humble ladies who last year won the Uganda Ladies Amateur Open Golf Championship by five strokes. Namakula won the tournament with an aggregate of 223 after 54 holes.
Sharon Nalukenge

Ms Nalukenge is also known as Ms Sharon O in Uganda’s entertainment industry. She represented Uganda at the Big Brother reality show and became the first Ugandan woman to reach the finals of Big Brother Africa.
Annet Negesa

She is one of the iron ladies in Uganda’s sports industry. She won a gold medal during the All Africa Games in 800 meters in Maputo, Mozambique at Zimpeto National stadium.

 Iryn Namubiru

The R&B singer looks like granite but inside her there is a volcano. Last year she pocket several awards which included Afro-Beat Diva award, R&B Diva award and Super Diva 2011. She was also the best artiste of RnB, Female artiste of the Year and Best Artiste of the year.

The Uganda parliament football team has today tabled a trophy which they won during the East African inter-parliamentary tournament 2011 in Burundi.

The motion to table the trophy was moved by the team captain also the Aruu county MP Odonga Otto and seconded by Mukono monisparity MP Betty Nambooze.

Uganda won the 2011 East African inter-parliamentary tournament after defeating the republic of Burundi by 4-1 goals on penarities.All the East Africa member state participated in the tournament hailed in the republic of Burundi’s capital Bujumbura.

While tabling the trophy, the parliament football team Captain Odonga Otto urged government to increase the budget of sports to enable the country developing sports industry.

Meanwhile the Gulu district woman MP Bitty AOL Ocan also advised government to invest in the youth through sports programmes and other co-curricular activities to enable the youth discovering and develop their talents.

“We should learn to love sports in this country as the later president of this country Idi Amin Dada used to do “Said the Kampala central MP Mohamed Nsereko

“President M7 should stop  giving medals only to the soldiers but should also remember other people who contribute to the development of this country”. Nsereko added

Elsewhere the minister of East African Affairs Elia Kategaya applauded parliament team for winning the trophy without political afriation.Kategaya told Mps at  the floor of parliament that parliament team has members from the different political parties but when it comes to representing the country, they work as a team.

The 54th son of the former president of Uganda, Late Iddi Amin Dada, Taban Amin has denied media reports that one of their family members organised an alcohol tournament and in the process one of the participants ‘kicked the bucket.’

Taban says that the tournament was organised by another person and Sadiq Amin, a grandson of Amin went there to watch.

When a person died, the police arrested him on allegations that he was the one who organised the event.

Sadiq who contested for Busia town mayorship in the recent elections was arrested by the police in Busia last week.

The man died after sipping four bottles of waragi on his way to hospital.

Kadongokamu singer Mathias Walukaga is no longer in hiding after he openly declared last evening that he wants to join FUFA administration.

Walukagga, the SC Villa and Arsenal fan has been overheard telling pals in music industry that he wants to join FUFA such that he champions the declining growth of Uganda football.

And the singer’s desires could be real because in August this year he played for his Kasimba clan during the bika bya Baganda tournament.

He convinced the coach of Kasimba team to select him during their march against Nyonyi Nyange which they successfully beat 1:0.

Walukagga’s pals also tell us that the Kadongokamu star has been telling them for over long time that he wants to add on sports on his music career.
