Parliament football team tables East Africa trophy

The Uganda parliament football team has today tabled a trophy which they won during the East African inter-parliamentary tournament 2011 in Burundi.

The motion to table the trophy was moved by the team captain also the Aruu county MP Odonga Otto and seconded by Mukono monisparity MP Betty Nambooze.

Uganda won the 2011 East African inter-parliamentary tournament after defeating the republic of Burundi by 4-1 goals on penarities.All the East Africa member state participated in the tournament hailed in the republic of Burundi’s capital Bujumbura.

While tabling the trophy, the parliament football team Captain Odonga Otto urged government to increase the budget of sports to enable the country developing sports industry.

Meanwhile the Gulu district woman MP Bitty AOL Ocan also advised government to invest in the youth through sports programmes and other co-curricular activities to enable the youth discovering and develop their talents.

“We should learn to love sports in this country as the later president of this country Idi Amin Dada used to do “Said the Kampala central MP Mohamed Nsereko

“President M7 should stop  giving medals only to the soldiers but should also remember other people who contribute to the development of this country”. Nsereko added

Elsewhere the minister of East African Affairs Elia Kategaya applauded parliament team for winning the trophy without political afriation.Kategaya told Mps at  the floor of parliament that parliament team has members from the different political parties but when it comes to representing the country, they work as a team.
