They have given the ministry of health upto the end of this month to repair the x-ray unit that was closed two months ago due to a mechanical breakdown.

Kawolo hospital that also handles patients from Buvuma, Mukono and Kayunga districts, has not been offering x-ray services to patients for the last 2 months.

The hospital administrator Haruna Wamala said the hospital requires 3 million shillings to have the machine fixed.

He adds that the money they receive from government is conditional and cannot be diverted.

Patients that require x-ray services are now referred to Rippons, a private unit in Jinja, which many say is very expensive.

The ministry of Permanent secretary Dr. Asuman Lukwago tells KFM that they have already contacted Phillips, the supplier of the machine to have the fault fixed.

Kawolo hospital built in 1968 is in the sorry state with many inadequacies including shortage of water as well as dilapidated structures.

Speaking to kfm,the hospital spokesperson  Enoch Kusaasira said the unit is functioning with patients recieving treatment.

Kusaasira has also denies reports that life has been already lost due to the closure of the unit.

However Kusaasira admits that the unit ran short of bacteria filters hindering treatment of patients with respiratory problems

• Their work will be within the ICARDA on-going research programs and activities and should not be part of or lead to any degree training.
• Fluency in English, some prior research experience, computing skills, and working knowledge of other languages (Arabic and French) would be advantageous. A selection committee would review all applications.

The exercise is to keep the 2000 LDU force in Karamoja region as was directed by the Commander in Chief President Yoweri Museveni to boost the efforts of the UPDF as a force multiplier in the disarmament exercise way back in 2010. All terms and modalities have been agreed on and all is set for the recruitment to start on 2^nd January 2012.

The 3^rd Division Operations and Training Officer, Col Francis Chemo will lead the exercise . On the side of local leaders from LC 5, 3,2 an1, the GISOs, DISOs, RDCs we require their full support and involvement.

Extra caution will be taken to avoid recruiting wrong elements.

Local leaders have been accordingly warned against forging papers or recommending criminals/foreigners for recruitment into the force, as they would be acting contrary to the national interest.

The new recruits are to fill the gaps of those LDUs who could have deserted, failed to finish training or left the force under different circumstances that befall forces.

The new recruits will join their colleagues after three months trainining and each of them will be paid 130, 000 shillings, half a salary of a UPDF private.

As UPDF operating in Karamoja we have confidence in the performance of the LDUs in the region on disarmament exercise. The mission of their recruitment so far has been attained well over 70% according to the appraisal we did recently.

The exercise will be conducted on these dates as indicated against the districts.

These are Nakawa, Makindye, Kampala Central, Kawempe and Lubaga division. We hear that the government wants to divide the above divisions into more units because of their big population.

 President Museveni’s brother, Dan Kaguta says that another area to be divided into smaller administrative unit is Makindye Sabagabo Sub County. He says that the area is going to be divided because it is soon going to be elevated to a municipality status and Nakawa division is to be divided into two.

He also shot the friends of Nakut one Mangadalena Longes and Namboze Miriam who were rushed to Tokora hospital but later Mangadelena Longes died of over bleeding while Nambozi is still nursing a gun wound she sustained on her left arm in the same hospital.

We suspect the cause of this act to be a relationship gone badly between the two.

Auda is still at large with his rifle and a force has been dispatched to hunt him down.

UPDF condemns in the strongest terms this heinous act by Auda Paul and we promise to hunt him down to account for his actions in our court martial. We extend our condolences to the bereaved families and promise to be at their side in this trying time. UPDF under which LDUs work will assist where possible in the burial arrangements and ensure justice prevails.

Timothy and Trevor born in the Western district of Kabale five months ago underwent an 8 hour operation carried out by a team of doctors in the Egyptian capital Cairo.

The deputy director Mulago hospital Dr. Doreen Birabwa says the twins are still in the intensive care Unit and are recovering steadily.

Dr. Birabwa adds that the twins who are in hospital are safe from the ongoing violent protests.

She says they have started feeding and trying to live independently.

She has also lauded the Egyptian government and Mulago hospital management for all the support accorded to the team of doctors that is handling the twins.

The parents and the twins were flown out to Cairo last weekend together with Dr John Sekabira of Mulago hospital.
