A concerned citizen and a member of the NRM party, one Posiano Matovu, through his lawyers Ssewankambo and company advocates, is seeking to block former Bukoto South MP, Hon. Hajji. Muyanja Mbabaali from taking part in the coming polls on grounds that he has no education qualification to contest for the same post again.

Addressing a joint press conference today in Kampala, the lead council for Posiano Matovu, Asuman Basalilwa said they have already written to Makerere University where he says he obtained a degree in Social Science and also to Uganda Pentecostal University – Fortportal to inquire on the legality of the Diploma in IT he acquired from the
institute as well as the National Council for Higher Education to seek legality of the above education qualifications.

However, the concerned voter and a member of the NRM party, Mr. Matovu Posiano a resident of Kkingo, Senya parish, Bukoto South constituency in Lwengo district says, he does not want the party to get involved in the same mess it had last time with the same member who has no education qualifications.

Matovu through his lawyers is  also considering calling for police investigations into the matter of Haji Mbabali’s forgeries in the education papers he currently owns.

The NRM secrets in the recently concluded Bukoto South parliamentary by elections have leaked to the press. The secrets a source in NRM told our informers are shocking.

They indicate that the FDC candidate in the race, Julius Sentamu was kept in the race by a backdoor deal with NRM known by very few.

He was kept in the race to work as a spoiler by garnering at least 2000 votes which by the way if it had happened would have impaired DP’s vote and made NRM carry the day.
Its said the coordinator of this project was some guy who feels so much airs around himself and comes from Rubaga. This same gentleman one time during the election campaigns wondered how the opposition could support MP Moses Kasibante instead of him.  There were two main candidates in the last Thursday race that was won by DP. They were Mathias Nsubuga (DP) and Alintuma Nsambu of the National Resistance Movement. The seat went vacant after the court nullified the election victory of Hajji Muyanja Mbabali.

It seems Uganda’s ruling political party; NRM is exhibiting political comedy at a highest degree ever. This is seen in the contradictory messages from the same political party.

While the NRM official in charge of elections, Prof. Elijah Mushemeza insists that DP stole election victory in Bukoto South in Lwengo district last Thursday and promising to petition court, the deputy information secretary in NRM, Ofwono Opondo has congratulated DP upon winning Bukoto South elections.

Ofwono says that the DP candidate Mathias Nsubuga rightly defeated NRM’s Alintuma Nsambu. Ofwono has also called upon DP to support NRM in the forthcoming by election in Kasese.

The deputy information secretary says that DP is not a party to avoid because it plays mature politics and supports the government programmes.  Ofwondo says that DP helped NRM to chase FDC from the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), defeat FDC in Luweero district woman MP race and now it defeated FDC in Bukoto South elections.

President Museveni on returning back from UK where he has been on an official visit with his wife, Janet Museveni has started business with summoning the inspector general of police, Kale Kayihura to brief him what transpired in Bukoto South and led NRM to lose the parliamentary by elections to DP’s Mathias Nsubuga.

The sources privy to statehouse information told our reporters that Museveni had many interests in Bukoto South elections because the polls were not only between NRM’s Alintuma Nsambu and DP’s Nsubuga but the Kabaka of Buganda vs Museveni as a person. Before he left for England, sources say that Museveni had instructed Kayihura to manage security well and his blue eyed NRM cadres led by Madam Aisha Kabanda and Luweero district LC5 chairman, Abdul Naduli works on ensuring that the NRM candidate wins the polls.

The same sources also tell us that Hajji Naduli, Aisha Kabanda, and all the NRM cadres who were assigned to seek election victory for NRM in Bukoto South have been summoned to attend this meeting slated to sit on Saturday in Entebbe. Efforts to get a comment from Kayihura were futile. But one of the LC5 chairpersons who were key in wooing voters in Bukoto south to vote for Alintuma Nsambu told us that the meeting will also decide whether Nsambu challenges his election loss.

As the clock struck 5:00pm on Thursday evening, it was drizzling in Bukoto South, Lwengo district in greater Masaka.

According to Uganda’s electoral laws this is the stipulated time for starting counting poll results. The Bukoto South race attracted four candidates Mathias Nsubuga (DP), Alintuma Nsambu of NRM, Julius Sentamu of FDC and Dan Katula (Independent).

The preliminary results indicate that the FDC candidate is in the third position, independent candidate is trailing and NRM’s candidate is in the second position while DP’s Nsubuga is leading.

But it is still too early to declare who is automatically the winner of this arguably hottest race among the by elections we have had in Uganda since 2011. Just watch this site we shall keep you up dated ….

President Museveni has vowed that his ruling political party, NRM will win the Bukoto South parliamentary by elections on July 12th at all costs. Museveni says that the claims that the NRM flag-bearer in the race Alintuma Nsambu insulted Kabaka Ronald Mutebi and influenced the closure of CBS radio station are false and should not be a basis to deny Nsambu parliamentary election victory.

Museveni says that NRM has to win the Bukoto South Parliamentary elections because most of the people in Lwengo where the constituency is located are members of the ruling party. The president even wondered where DP would get poling agents from an area where it has no support. Nsambu is contesting against DP’s Mathias Nsubuga. The seat fell vacant after Muyanja Mbabaali was thrown out of Parliament over scanty academic qualifications.

However Nsambu is fighting allegations that he insulted the Kabaka of Buganda, and that Nsambu does not hail from Bukoto South despite having a home there.
