Following intelligence reports that some opposition members were plotting to eliminate Alintuma Nsambu, who is the NRM candidate in Bukoto South by election campaigns.

Nsambu is fighting against stiff smear campaign against his candidature from the Democratic Party (DP) candidate, Mathias Nsubuga, and from some members of the Buganda kingdom including Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze, Busiro East MP Merdad Lubega and Masaka Municipality MP Mathias Mpuuga.

Nsambu is being witch hunted following reports that sometime back he abused the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

Sources in Bukoto South in Lwengo district in greater Masaka say that Nsambu is now being escorted by Uganda Police Vehicle Reg. No. UP1067.

We are told that the police vehicle is protecting Alintuma Nsambu as he dishes out ‘money’ and solicits for votes from voters. The hottest contest is between Alintuma Nsambu and DP’s Mathias Nsubuga.

Sections of the people of Buganda kingdom and Uganda at large have continued to castigate the NRM’s Chairman for Buganda region, Hajji Abdul Naduli over his poisonous statement he uttered on Monday that the government will abolish Buganda kingdom if the people of Bukoto south in Masaka don’t vote the government’s candidate in Bukoto parliamentary elections.

Hajji Abdul Nadduli is no stranger to controversy

The government’s candidate in the race is Alintuma Nsambu who is facing a tough competition from the Democratic Party’s (DP) candidate, Mathias Nsubuga.

The Baganda activists led by the Kabaka’s Lukiiko member, Ffefeka Serubogo have advised Naduli to quickly go and apologise to Buganda kingdom at Mengo for his ‘Musevenism’ vicious statements.

The Buganda kingdom activists have also advised voters in Lwengo district in greater Masaka to vote for Pro-Buganda Candidate to represent their interests in Parliament of Uganda.

The president general of the Democratic Party (DP), Norbert Mao has vowed that his party DP will trounce down the ruling party (NRM) in the Bukoto South MP by-elections. Bukoto South is located in Lwengo, in greater Masaka.

DP President General, Nobert Mao

Mao who is also a former MP in the seventh parliament of Uganda and former LC5 chairman of Gulu district told our informers in Masaka that all signals show that NRM  is losing the Bukoto by elections to DP.

He says that all DP members are united, strong in spirit and focused on winning the by elections. Mao says that DP is aware that NRM has mobilized money to win the July 12th by-elections but they will not manage the DP strong support in Bukoto South constituency.

The former MP and former presidential candidate says that the people of Bukoto South know what they want and they will wake up to cast their votes in favour of the DP candidate. The seat fell vacant after the High Court session sitting in Kampala nullified the election victory of Hajji Mbabali over lack of enough required academic papers.

The former Democratic Party (DP) candidate in Bukoto central, Jude Mbabali has said that he was shocked yesterday when the Vice President, Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi presided over the 50 judges’ conference at Speke Resort Munyonyo inKampala.

The conference was about to take stock of last year 2011 and to review the judicial integrity opinion report. It should also be recalled that on the 20th day of October 2011, Mbabali with a group of four voters filed an application in the High Court seeking that Election Petition ‘Mbabaali Jude v Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi’ is still before court be heard and determined. The ruling is coming up for judgment on the 17th day of January 2011 by her Lordship Elizabeth Musoke.

Mbabali told journalists in Kampala on Tuesday that Ssekandi would not have been the right person to preside over the above conference where the Judiciary discussed issues relating to integrity of the judiciary because Sekandi’s image is now tainted in the public eye as he is battling election rigging petition before the same judges he met and preached integrity.

Secondly, Mbabali said he feared that by Sekandi presiding over the conference where Justice Musoke was in attendance may have an impact upon her decision in the said ruling that is to be delivered on January 17th. Mbabali further condemned the Judiciary for having made Sekandi a Chief Guest.

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) woman parliamentary by election loss in Luweero was widely interpreted by political observers and analysts as a significant blow to the ruling party in Uganda.

It is not only because it is the first time the NRM party lost a major constituency in by elections in its 26 year rule but because the lose of Luweero seat to an opposition symbolized a major loss of trust in the party by Ugandans in Luweero, who supported the ruling government during its five year liberation armed struggle.

Since the end of the recently concluded 2011 general elections, NRM has lost over 10 parliamentary election court petitions.
Political observers some of them within the ruling NRM party anticipate that Ugandans are about to see NRM lose more by-elections in places like Bukoto central in Masaka, Butambala, Iganga among others.

Hajji Naduli, the chairperson of NRM in Buganda says that the ruling party is losing by elections to opposition due to intrigue and disunity among NRM cadres in the country.

If you had thought that Vice President Edward Sekandi’s seat in parliament is safe after  Jude Mbabaali, the Bukoto Central parliamentary election loser withdrew a petition he had filed against Sekandi, better read this.

Mbabaali, a top official in the Democratic Party, says he is going to petition Masaka High Court again seeking the nullification of Ssekandi’s election as Bukoto Central MP on ground that the exercise was not free and fair.

Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi

Mbabbaali says that Sekandi has not fulfilled what they agreed upon before he withdrew the case recently.

The DP man alleges that Ssekandi violated the parliamentary elections Act when he used government vehicles during campaigns.

Mbabaali also alleges that Ssekandi connived with Tugume Mugisha, the former Masaka district returning officer to alter the results from KaboneraSub County, where the petitioner had allegedly defeated the VP with more than 2000 votes.

Mbabaali further accuses Ssekandi of voter bribery in Kyanamukaaka by distributing money, food and alcohol.
