The chairperson of the caucus Haji Latif Ssebagala says tough laws and unnecessary brutal arrests will not contribute to the development of Kampala apart from dialoging with the public. The two ministers are also planning to meet all division mayors, Resident City Commissioners – RCC and other leaders to find ways of developing the city.

Melyvn Lorenzen, Werderbremen striker has not yet decided his commitment with Uganda

The 21-year-old will not feature in Africa Cup of Nations qualification match when Botswana will take over Uganda Cranes on Saturday June 4, 2016.

“Decision time [for Lorenzen] will be after the match against Botswana,” Uganda FA communications manager Ahmed Hussein said.

He impressed for Uganda Cranes in a 2-0 defeat friendly match played with Zimbabwe  at Rufaro stadium in Harare on Tuesday.

Lorenzen was born in London and qualifies to play for both Uganda and German through his father and mother respectively.

Uganda coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic praised the contribution Lorenzen had made during his time with the squad.

“We shall definitely miss the extra impetus he would have brought to the team as we saw in the friendly match against Zimbabwe,” the coach said.

“So for now we shall concentrate on the able players we have in the team to accomplish our mission.”

The coach will be worried about the fitness of striker Faruku Miya, who plays in Belgium for Standard Liege, after he missed the loss to Zimbabwe with concussion.

The Cranes will also be without US-based midfielder Mike Azira, who has chosen not to join the squad stating due to fatigue after a busy MLS season with Colorado Rapids.

Moses Oloya also misses out having stayed in Vietnam in order to recover from injury.

Uganda are level on seven points with Burkina Faso in Group D, but the Cranes are second on the table because the Stallions have the better head-to-head record between two.

The youth in Ugandan are challenged to really understand the current issues of the nation before they are swiftly taken up by the promises of the politicians in the current campaigns. Giving her keynote speech at the youth African leadership initiative Uganda forum today, Dr. Sylvia Tamale reminded the youth that the current situation in Uganda is not new and a deep thought on the situation mainly by the youth has to be taken in if the nation is to register change and have a better government.

Dr. Tamale notes that unless the youth get to the bottom of the problems and internalize them then nothing better is soon coming in this nation. She further advises them to desist from being used to champion political violence but instead work towards taking this nation into the right direction.
At the meeting, the youth demanded from the leaders good governance and inclusive political participation from all citizens.

I have observed the development of two countries in East Africa over the last 10 years and how those countries have used their Social Security Funds. In Tanzania the rulers there built the largest a Public University in East Africa and they funded thousands of housing units, constructed over 20000 km of tarmac roads, and built more than 50000 new classrooms and a new secondary school in every sub-county. The hospitals in Tanzania have enough drugs, teachers are paid well and the corrupt people are sincerely punished.

The Government in Dodoma (you may read Dar es Salaam) has used its Social security funds to build over 50 high rise ultra-modern buildings in four cities and 34 municipalities. Tanzania has gone further to establish a Social Action Fund from which the poor expect a regular income.

But in Uganda, the leaders behave like the proverbial prodigal son in the bible and take the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) like their garden. It is reported in Kampala government that the money from NSSF meant to benefit people is embezzled by some government officials.

A new and ultra modern University in Tanzania that has facilities to accommodate over 50,000 students has been built in Dodoma. The Dodoma University is bigger and better facilitated than Uganda’s Makerere University.

The Tanzanian cities of Mwanza, Arusha and Dar es Salaam have planned and developed infrastructure as well as high rise buildings. Students in Tanzania don’t need to first acquire statehouse connections to get sponsorship in tertiary institutions. Tanzania has a Student’s Loans Board that handles all applications for students who wish to get admitted in public and private Universities. International level scholarships in Tanzania too have no connection with Ministers or President’s office approval. In a nutshell Tanzania democratically replaces her presidents every 10 years at most. In Tanzania, like it is in Ghana, Zambia and Botswana, no president claims to have monopoly of a nation vision. In Uganda, one to get a job, ministerial post, tender, government contract, one has to sing the supremacy of the government in power or that the ‘only person in Uganda who has a vision is president Museveni.’

Does diet play a part in the development of heart diseases? The answer is YES. People across the globe are look and they are what they eat

Every choice people (we) make today will impact them the next day, week, months, years or decades to come tomorrow.

Our diet plays a significant role in prevention or production of heart diseases. Diets high in artificial processed fats, low in fresh vegetables and fruit, and high in alcohol put people at the greatest risk of heart disease.

In order to help your blood pressure under control and therefore lower your risk of cardiovascular disease, limit the amount of salt you consume. As much as 75% of the salt in the average diet comes from processed foods-everything from bacon to soups and salad dressing.

Choose foods without added salt and prepare home-cooked food with little or no salt. All natural food items such as fruits vegetables, fish and lean meats have very little salt.

Tullow Oil drilling in Bulisa

In an impromptu caucus meeting chaired today by the party’s chief whip Justine Lumumba, members failed to harmonize the amendments proposed by the natural resources committee, and individual members including Theodore Ssekikubo and Ken Lukyamuzi.

The amendments seek to reduce the powers of the minister or any Presidential appointee in the bill saying that it denies other stake holders like parliament and the community a say and control on Petroleum issues.

The caucus vice chair person David Bahati confirmed the disagreement and said that another meeting has been set to discuss the matter until a common position is arrived at.

Obese women and those with type II diabetes could increase their chances of having a child with Autism or another development disorder, according to recent US studies.

Researches at the University of California show that the high glucose levels during pregnancy could affect brain development in foetus.

The paediatrics study looked at 1,000 children and mother over seven years.  The children were aged between 2 -5 years and were enrolled between 2003 and 2010.

Among the children whose mothers had type II diabetes during their pregnancies, the study found out that 9.3% of them had autism and 11.6% of that group showed evidence of developmental disability. Therefore it was discovered that obesity and diabetes had links to child disorders.
