Winnie Kizza the Woman MP for Kasese and also the Leader of Opposition in Parliament of Uganda.

Kiiza who is also Kasese district Woman MP raised the matter on the floor of parliament on behalf of the area MP Micheal Kabaziguruka who is still in jail over cases of treason in a session chaired by the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga.

The legislator backed by the Member of Parliament for Bukoto East, Florence Namayanja, says that although land had been ear-marked for development under harsh circumstances that left hundreds of people homeless following forceful evictions, it remains un-occupied without any signs for development.

Kiiza said that the residents are complaining of their security since this place is now too bushy posing a risk of them being attacked by thieves and snakes from it.

Naguru estate was contracted to OPEC for the construction of Satellite cities and low cost houses in 2010 while Shimon Demonstration schools were demolished in 2005 for a hotel to accommodate for Common Wealth Heads of State Visitors in 2007 but both areas remain idle and only housing iron bar hit men and thugs.

The speaker has tasked government to come up with an explanation on this matter by Thursday this week.

The High Court has dismissed with costs a petition in which a voter was challenging the election of Florence Namayanja as the Member of Parliament for Bukoto East Constituency.

Francis Xavier Mugula sued Namayanja and the Electoral Commission over alleged several irregularities.

Namayanja beat former minister Alintuma Nsambu in the parliamentary race.

Mugula accused Namayanja of bribing voters with soap and money, uttering malicious statements against John Alintuma Nsambu, and the EC of failing to comply with the law.

Justice Elizabeth Musoke ruled that there was no evidence to prove the allegations.

The judge said the evidence of dishing out money, didn’t indicate that Namayanja had any knowledge on bribery.

Patrick Bahegane and John Mary Byamugisha represented the petitioner, while Lawrence Tumwesigye was for the EC.

Francis Katabarwa represented Namayanja.
