Some of the NRM MPs who lost in the party primaries have asked their party chairman president Yoweri Museveni not to decampaign them when they stand as independents in the coming elections.
This was during a meeting they had with President Museveni last evening at State House Entebbe. The condition by these lawmakers came after the party chairman cleared those who fill that were cheated in the primaries to stand as
independents. These MPs insist that their petitions were not well handled by the NRM electoral commission chaired by Tanga Odoi.
Some members have even threatened to join the GoForward pressure group if neglected by the party adding that they feel they are still relevant.

Four losers in the Gomba west constituency NRM primaries have formed an alliance to have one candidate for the parliamentary elections in this county in 2016  elections to win the NRM flag bearer Robinnah Rwakojo. The four included Araali Muhiirwa, Innocent Tumwesigye, Asadu Kakooza and Stanly Katabalwa .
The group is considering fronting  Araali Muhirwa who is a former employee with the Judiciary to tussle it out with Robinnah Rwakojo, a wife to the secretary to the electoral commission. Muhiirwa and Tumwesigye told journalists in Kampala that they could not petition the NRM party over the irregularities that marred the party primaries because they would not get the desired justice since time is running out for the nominations for parliamentary candidates.
They claim that NRM primaries in Gomba west county in Gomba were characterized by intimidation from security agents, vote stuffing in favour of  the NRM party  flag bearer, voting beyond the voting time, voting in the night and influence peddling.
The election in Gomba west for NRM flag bearer was suspended three times due to disagreements that the party members had in relation to election malpractices.

In other news the NRM flag bearer for Hoima municipality Dr. Lawrence Bategeka  says that he defeated the 1st prime minister and minister for public service Henry Muganwa Kajura because the later starved the youth and community people with jobs.He says that though Kajura was placed in high paying government positions for many years he had done nothing for the local community in Hoima. He continued to note that Hoima has lagged behind in terms of development and creating jobs for the people in the area and that even if Kajura insists to stand as an independent candidate in the next parliamentary elections he will be defeated with disappointing margin because the people in Hoima are tired of him.

Reports at the NRM electoral commission show that Kajura has not petitioned against the results where was defeated although he was protesting the results citing vote rigging

Some Opposition MPs say the ongoing rigging and malpractices in the NRM Party Primaries is a clear indication that even in the general elections organized by the Independent Electoral commission they suspect that NRM MPs will rig.
Busongola North MP William Nzonghu says they are ready to take on NRM MPs who will stand to contest against them to make it back to parliament in 2016. He says rigging by the NRM Party is not a new occurrence and it has existed whenever there is any voting to rig out the opposition but they are ready to take on any NRM MP who is ready to rig elections come next year. He continued that most of the opposition MPs have already deployed machineries to crash any person who will participate in vote rigging.
Bukomansimbi county MP Deogracious Kiyingi says during general elections there is no way NRM flag bearers will avoid rigging as they have done always to weed out the opposition MPs. He says this is the only way the ruling will fight to reduce on the representation of the opposition MPs in the 10th Parliament so that it’s easy for government to pass all its interests which oppress the tax payers.

The NRM Electoral commission headed by Tanga Odoi yesterday castigated members of parliament who are trying to bribe their way back to parliament. Addressing the media at NRM EC offices, Odoi revealed that as a result of desire to bribe, some of the members have already fallen prey to city conmen who have fleeced millions of shillings from the members promising to give them ballot papers for stuffing. He said for example, a city conman only identified as Tinkamanyire was a few days ago arrested in Bukedea as he tried to con several contestants in the district claiming to be working in the NRM secretariat and therefore had the ballot papers for MP primaries.

Tinkamanyire, according to Tanga, went to Bukedea after he had successfully finished to con Members of Parliament from Butaleja district whom he called to a fake meeting promising to give them ballot papers and they gave him shs 600,000 each. Tanga castigated members for behaving in what he called a dishonorable manner of believing in bribery instead of working for their victory.

NRM EC has also said that primaries for Members of Parliament, LC5 chairmen and Lord Mayor await NRM CEC decision. EC commissioner Jane Alisemera says it is CEC to choose dates for when these primaries can be conducted.

The party’s EC had summoned the press to brief them on the upcoming primary elections for NRM councilors at district, sub-county and municipal councils. She says the elections for these people will take place on Monday October 5 in the regions of Northern, Karamoja, Eastern and Western.

The primaries for those positions in Kampala and Buganda NRM regions will take place on October 8.

Last week, the NRM EC postponed indefinitely primaries for NRM MP aspirants and district chairpersons citing ‘unforeseen’ circumstances.

Mohammed Nsereko is one of the rebel NRM  party MPs , though some of the MPs in this group picked forms to participate in the party primaries .  Lwemiyaga county member of parliament  Theodore Sekikubo  recently decided to be in the party primaries saying that the disagreements that existed between himself and the party have since been resolved.
Four  MPs, Theodore Sekikubo ,Muhammed Nsereko, Wilfred Niwagaba , and Barnabas Tinkasimire, were expelled from the party for breaching rule 4 of the NRM’s code of conduct, which prohibits party MPs from going against party positions and later their party held a reconciliation meeting with them and some decided to return to the party.
