Following yesterday’s shooting of Robert Kyagulanyi’s driver, Yasin Kawuma, motormouth Tamale Mirundi has come out to give his two cents on the incident saying criminal gangs have infiltrated Bobi Wine’s circles.

According to Mirundi, Ugandans should first understand that it’s criminal to raise your hand up while holding a stone when the presidential convoy is passing.

He further states that Bobi Wine’s ‘People Power’ circles have been permeated by criminal gangs who are only experts in causing chaos.

Mirundi then heaved in former FDC president, Dr. Kiiza Besigye, saying he has handed his “hooligans” to the Kyadondo East legislator.

“Bobi Wine has inherited Besigye’s hooliganism groups of unemployed Baganda youths. It is evident that the so far registered death in Arua is of a Muganda man,” Mirundi alleged.

Over 34 people have been arrested including journalists. The whereabouts of Bobi Wine together with fellow MPs are yet to be known.

The minister of justice and constitutional affairs Kahinda Otafire has advised the Uganda communication commission boss Godfrey Mutabazi  not to shut up the former press secretary of the president Tamale Murundi. He said that those who are aggrieved by the utterances made by the former press secretary of the president Tamale Murundi  while on radio or television should to take him to court.

Otafire told journalists that  it is not fair for UCC to stop him from talking  on radio since it’s his  constitutional right to freedom of Speech.
This was in the wake of  a directive by Uganda communication commission to stop him from appearing in the electronic media  because of miss using the platform to attack people during his  live talk shows. He also urged Tamale to take the matter to court if he feels that his right of freedom of speech  has been violated.

Presidential Press Secretary Tamale Mirundi reportedly earns two salaries, one for his additional role of special presidential advisor on Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and another for his being the presidential advisor.

President Museveni appointed Tamale Mirundi KCCA advisor last week. But sources tell us that Mirundi will automatically earn another salary in addition to that of being a press secretary to the president.

Tamale will also be giving advises to the executive director of KCCA, Jennifer Musisi.

Before his appointment as KCCA advisor, Tamale was a critic of Jenifer Musisi. He had initially accused ms Musisi of promoting the Pioneer Easy Bus project.

Tamale Mirundi became the press secretary to the president of Uganda six years back. But we now hear that his term of office expired last year but since that time he is still holding office and receiving the taxpayers’ money. Mirundi himself was overheard conforming to one of his friends, Buyondo Africa Ddamulira of Top Radio that indeed his term of office as presidential press secretary was expired and not yet renewed.

Tamale Mirundi was born in 1964 at Matale village in Rakai District. He was the 9th child to late John Mirundi and Mrs Molly Mirundi.

Tamale Mirundi was studied at Matale Mixed Primary School, Kampala High school and Makerere University where he graduated with a bachelor of Mass Communication.

Mirundi practiced journalism for sometime. Although he is not so a good writer, Mirundi was at a certain time one of the senior editors in defunct Munno Newspaper.

He was also one of the brains behind the defunct ‘The Voice and Lipota news bulletins respectively. Mirundi has written a number of notices which he calls books and he is always heard on radio stations bragging to whoever wants to listen that he is a publisher of books.

President Yoweri Museveni’s Press Secretary, Tamale Mirundi continues to shock his fellow Baganda. Mirundi has recently been preaching that the type of federalism the kingdom of Buganda is demanding is not only impossible but unworkable.

The acerbic Mirundi says that it would be a fraud if Buganda ever gets full federal status it demands.

Mirundi alleges that granting full federal status to Buganda is like preparing for a repeat of the 1966 Buganda crisis. The former president Milton Obote suddenly abolished kingdoms only to be restored by Yoweri Museveni.

He says under federalism Buganda has to become an independent state which other tribes in the country would like to hate to hear.

We cannot tell exactly who the mafias in the government are but the presidential press secretary Tamale Mirundi insists that mafias now are pressuring president Museveni to sack him.

Sources at statehouse have informed us that the so called mafias have already told Museveni that it is better to sack Mirundi alleging that it is the Presidential Press Secretary promoting hate campaign between Buganda and the central government.

Reports indicate that Mirundi no longer freely mixes up with top government officials. Recently Mirundi was also overheard telling pals that mafias were on his neck.

When contacted some of the ministers said that Mirundi has a problem of rubbishing government officials whom he thinks are not his friends. “That’s why some of ministers fight him,” this ministerial source said.

Presidential press secretary Tamale Mirundi says that the police cannot let walk to work protests to take place in Kampala because their organisers want to use them to over throw the Kampala government.

He says the state is aware of all the plans by FDC and DP allegedly to use the walk to work protests to overthrow the government of President Yoweri Museveni.

Mirundi says opposition political parties are hiding behind A4C to mobilise people whom they want later to command to invade statehouse and overrun the government. Mirundi however says that the state is aware and can not allow such “hooliganism to take place”.

Mirundi’s statements have come at a time when police have arrested a number of people in connection to walk to work protests. Sixteen of the arrested people have been charged with treason, a capital crime of planning to overthrow the government by use of forceful means.

Mirundi says that A4C Coordinator, Mathias Mpuuga and his opposition team have dreams that they can duplicate the riots that have been taking place in Arab countries in Uganda. “They are forgetting that the political dynamics in Arab countries are different with those in non Arab countries,” Mirundi says.

It seems the growing reports of mafias in the ruling party NRM fighting its own officials is not just hearsay. The first person to claim that mafias in the government call it NRM was haunting him was Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, the former vice president.

Tamale Mirundi

Bukenya claimed that mafias were looking for his political down fall. Bukenya however called himself as mahogany meaning that it was hard for him to be cut down. However he is now remanded at Luzira prison and has just lost his Parliamentary seat as MP for Busiro North.

The presidential press secretary, Tamale Mirundi told his friends on Kampala road yesterday that there are corrupt people in government who are fighting him.

He told his friends who included Damulira Buyondo, a journalist attached at Top Radio among others that the mafias fight him because he reports their corruption deeds to the president.

Tamale Mirundi did not name the mafias. However sources informed us that some of Mirundi’s enemies include Sam Kuteesa (foreign minister), Mathew Rukikaire (former privatization minister), Mary Karooro Okrut (information minister) among others. The same sources said that Mirundi’s remaining friends in government are only Salim Saleh, Amelia Kyambadde and president Museveni.

Some people are bitter complaining that the former Vice President Prof. Gilbert Bukenya is imprisoned, but some people in state house say that the act was okay. Bukenya was remanded at Luzira prison on Monday over his alleged involvement in CHOGM car fraud as the Anti Corruption High court prepares to start his trial.

President Museveni’s press secretary Tamale Mirundi tells snoops that it was good for Bukenya to be imprisoned when his government is still in power.

Mirundi reasons that when a government official is imprisoned when his or her government has been over thrown, that person suffers a lot.

Mirundi gives an example of the former governor in charge of Buganda during Iddi Amin’s regime, Col. Abdullah Nasur who was jailed for over 10 years when his government was taken over by the UPC government.

Mirundi in an exclusive interview with this reporter on Monday, said that Bukenya is lucky to be jailed when Museveni is still in power because he can easily secure a production warrant and consequence bail.

Actually president Museveni has come out openly to demand that Bukenya be given bail as soon as possible, but the judiciary has refused to push forward his bail hearing which was set for Tuesday October 11th.
