Statehouse says it is good for Bukenya to be jailed

Some people are bitter complaining that the former Vice President Prof. Gilbert Bukenya is imprisoned, but some people in state house say that the act was okay. Bukenya was remanded at Luzira prison on Monday over his alleged involvement in CHOGM car fraud as the Anti Corruption High court prepares to start his trial.

President Museveni’s press secretary Tamale Mirundi tells snoops that it was good for Bukenya to be imprisoned when his government is still in power.

Mirundi reasons that when a government official is imprisoned when his or her government has been over thrown, that person suffers a lot.

Mirundi gives an example of the former governor in charge of Buganda during Iddi Amin’s regime, Col. Abdullah Nasur who was jailed for over 10 years when his government was taken over by the UPC government.

Mirundi in an exclusive interview with this reporter on Monday, said that Bukenya is lucky to be jailed when Museveni is still in power because he can easily secure a production warrant and consequence bail.

Actually president Museveni has come out openly to demand that Bukenya be given bail as soon as possible, but the judiciary has refused to push forward his bail hearing which was set for Tuesday October 11th.
