News coming in indicate that Uganda feminist and Makerere University researcher, Dr Stella Nyanzi , has been arrested and whisked to Kireka Special Investigation Unit (SIU).

Dr. Nyanzi allegedly tried to access her offices at the University which prompted the SIU to arrest her before ‘havoc’ could unfold.

She had, earlier this week, promised to stage a silent protest in a bid to have her job back.

On March 31, 2017, with an order from the appointments board chairman, Bruce Balaba Kabaasa, the then vice chancellor Prof John Ddumba-Ssentamu gave Nyanzi an indefinite suspension on allegations of attacking the First Lady and Education minister Janet Museveni on Facebook.

However, in early October this year, the Makerere University staff appeals tribunal  ordered university administration to reinstate Dr Stella Nyanzi and pay for the damages caused.

Before Nyanzi could enjoy her reinstation, the women activist was resummoned by they the Makerere University Appointments Board on October, 22 on allegations of insulting First Lady Janet Museveni in 2017

NCDC also adds that two certificate; academic and moral […]

The new development was announced by the NCDC deputy director, Ms Bernadette Karuhanga during a dialogue between the Office of the Inspector General of Government and Education ministry officials in Kampala last Friday.

“We are also mindful of the loss of values. If we can get funding to procure materials, we should be ready to roll it out. We are coming up with guidelines for assessing subjects that are currently not assessed by Uneb (Uganda National Examinations Board) and are looking at assessing values,” Ms Karuhanga said.

Hon. Janet Museveni, the Minister of Education, however challenged teachers who will teach the discipline to uphold moral values as well and be exemplary to their students.

“Teaching ethics and integrity as a lesson in class is not an easy thing because you must practice ethics and integrity to know how to pass it on to a child,” Ms Museveni said.

According to Ms Pauline Nansamba, the officer in the IGG’s Directorate of Legal Affairs, 20 per cent of corruption cases registered in 2018 were from the education sector.

“Although we put ethical value and anti-corruption studies on the curriculum, teachers will only put emphasis on the examinable subjects so that their students can pass highly. I recommend that a student is given two reports, one on academics and the other on ethical performance,” State Minister for Ethics and Integrity, Fr Simon Lokodo.

Lewis Hamilton reflects on a missed opportunity as Kimi Raikkonen celebrates taking victory at a stunning United States GP

Mercedes let a victory slip through their fingers by delaying a second pit stop and Ferrari‘s Kimi Raikkonen took his first victory for more than five years.

Hamilton’s title rival and Raikkonen’s team-mate Sebastian Vettel looked to have handed Hamilton the title early on when he turned into battling with Red Bull‘s Daniel Ricciardo.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen also beat Hamilton, who will have to wait until the race in Mexico next weekend to have another chance of sealing off the 2018 F1 title.

Lewis Hamilton will win his fifth world championship if he finishes at least seventh at the next race in Mexico. The Briton leads the Formula One table 346 points whereas Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari is second with 276 points.

Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player to score 400 goals in Europe’s top five leagues as Juventus dropped points for the first time this season when they made a 1-1 draw against Genoa.

Ronaldo’s fifth Serie A goal for Juventus was added to his 84 Premier League goals he scored for Manchester United and 311 in La Liga for Real Madrid.

Ronaldo scored the goal tapping in from close range after Genoa failed to clear their lines when Joao Cancelo‘s shot took an awkward deflection inside the box.

Ronaldo’s milestone puts him 10 goals above the second top scorer in Europe’s main leagues, Lionel Messi – who scored his 390th La Liga goal for Barcelona in their 4-2 win against Sevilla.

However, Juventus’ perfect start to the season came to an end in Turin on Saturday as Genoa earned a 1-1 draw and the visitors dropped the first points this season.

The hosts dominated most of the game having 21 shots but only three were on target – all from Ronaldo, who had 11 efforts in total in the first half of the game. The draw left the defending champions four points above second-placed Napoli who won 3-0 against Udinese later on Saturday.

Here is the First Lady’s detailed message:

I must begin by thanking God for his goodness and for empowering our boys and leading them as we now see. Then, of course, I congratulate them for emerging victorious during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier return match against Lesotho 2-0 on Tuesday, 16th October 2018 in Lesotho, after the previous win of 3-0 at Mandela National Stadium on Saturday 13th October 2018. Our national team’s performance has been very impressive putting us on the verge of qualifying for the 2019 AFCON Championships due in Cameroon.

On behalf of Government, my Ministry and all the people of Uganda, I salute the Uganda Cranes, Coach Sebastien Desabre and his Technical Team, FUFA, National Council of Sports, and the fans for the observable progress we have registered in performance and development of Ugandan football, and indeed Ugandan sports in general.

As we celebrate our recent performance, I call upon the players, technical officials, fans and supporters to remain humble, focused to the very end. For I believe that this is merely the beginning, the best is yet to come.

In a very special way, I thank the President of Uganda, Cabinet in its entirety and Parliament for supporting sports in general, but the president especially for providing quick means of transport to Lesotho and some support for our pocket expenses to the team. We, at the Ministry, remain committed to provide all the prayer back up, logistical and financial support to Ugandan sports teams within available resources.

May I wish the Uganda Cranes team, continued blessings and a successful AFCON 2019 qualification campaign, therefore, as we look forward to an even brighter future for Ugandan sports.

God Bless us all!
