Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • The Accounts Assistant will be preparing invoices to different customers

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Company set-up and development

  • Being part of and creating a social starting enterprise;
  • Need to be willing and built on a close, collaborative working relationship with the Procurement and Supply Chain Manager, Finance Manager and Country Manager;
  • Setting the prerequisites to ensure implementation of the full HE social franchise;
  • Ensuring the implementation of the HE franchise model following directives of HE HQ;

Capacity and Relationship building and market development:

  • Set-up and maintain external relations and partnerships, with the aim to make implementation and potential growth of the network of entrepreneurs possible;
  • Organizing and chairing meetings and training with (aspirant) entrepreneurs, (local) government and (inter-)national partners;
  • Set-up, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of franchise model;
  • Ensure that the objective of at least 900 micro entrepreneurs operating in Uganda is reached;
  • Build and maintain positive business relationships with the entrepreneurs in relation to training and monthly follow up;

Planning and Reporting:

  • Identifying directions, objectives and the means to set up analysis and evaluation of various components of the market, supported by HQ;
  • Keep track and control all daily activities following the technical project management tools such as plans, schedules, and responsibility and compliance matrixes.
  • Review operational performance with customers against targets, benchmarks and service agreements, and generate improvement plans for the entrepreneur to increase their outcomes;
  • Coordinating and controlling with the team, activities and implementation needed to make sure that the operations of HE are implemented;
  • Writing monthly reports on the progress of field’s activities and making appropriate recommendations;
  • Design and write SOPs, Work Packages and field reports;

HR and Financial Management:

  • Support the development of training materials and technical manuals;
  • Provide assistance and support to the capacity building team;
  • Manage and register cash flow in relation to operations and capacity building under supervision of the Country Manager and Coordinator;
  • Manage and keep all office expenses in the ERP. Keep a transparent way of administration, that is constant up to date. Until the scale forces to hire a financial officer.
  • Management and deployment of management tools that are used by Healthy Entrepreneurs

Other:

  • Participate and report in operational meetings on international level with other HE staff member from multiple countries.
  • Conduct ad hoc activities that are related to the implementation when needed.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The Operations Manager must hold a Bachelor’s degree in business administration or social sciences or extensive experience in the field in a similar position (min 3 years);
  • Very good English language skills, ability to communicate in one or more local languages a plus;
  • Excellent report writing skills and able to analyse and report market data;
  • Extensive experience with different methodologies of capacity building and human resource management.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands;
  • Have team spirit; able to work with a wide range of people at different levels
  • Have the ability to communicate in a constructive and honest matter;
  • Be precise;

Job Summary: The Operations Manager and Chief Mechanic will manage the logistics (fuel, fleet, warehouse, workshop) and supply chain operations of the country program office including any construction that may be taking place within the Program. The incumbent will create and oversee the implementation of tools utilized in the field with the aim of enhancing operational effectiveness. Identification of field operational solutions that will improve productivity is also part of his responsibilities. The incumbent also oversees the implementation of best practices in the field that are likely to make the overall supply chain of the firm more efficient.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Ensure that all staff understand the Procurement and Logistics SOPs and ensure that both are fully implemented within the operations
  • Actively participate in the preparation of the program budget
  • Build and maintain good relationships with all partners and potential donors in the area of operation
  • Take all necessary measures to motivate staff and build strong team spirit at all levels
  • Mentor and supervise support staff to improve quality and efficiency of administrative matters
  • Make monthly monitoring and report to actively contribute to the narrative contractual, financial and other specific reports

  • Efficiently organize and be transparent in the procurement of spare parts in the sub delegation
  • Ensure that the garage management procedures and those of the management of spare parts are properly implemented at all levels
  • Oversee the distribution and management of the fuel for the vehicles and generators
  • Recommending service intervals for each vehicle
  • Tasked with the maintenance is carried out timely, with due regard for the safety of all concerned and the operations expected by the client
  • Ensure that all the garage’s operating costs connected to the vehicles are correctly and timely budgeted, accounted for and reported appropriately in accordance with project guidelines.
  • That the vehicles managed in the garage move only with official permission, and only with persons authorized by management. That vehicle movement is controlled to produce effective and timely delivery of services to the client and beneficiaries
  • Ensure that road license on all vehicles is renewed timely, and that updated documents are carried in each vehicle
  • That third party insurance is affected timely, and that documents are maintained in each vehicle
  • That drivers comply with the laws of the country they are operating in at all times, and at all times act with courtesy, good manners and appropriate respect
  • Ensure fuel for each vehicle is monitored, recorded and accurate reports submitted timely as required
  • Make sure that drivers are properly informed of any new legislation, local bye-laws, project guidelines and other information relevant to their duties timely and effectively
  • Ensure that drivers and driver’s assistants are regularly assessed and mentored in their duties, health and behavior, and that recommendation are made to management without delay
  • Ensure that management of the warehouse and its items are monitored and properly distributed
  • Ensure the management of the fuel is monitored and properly accounted for
  • Ensure that management is made aware of any issues that partner may have communicated with regard to the operation of AIRD in the country, so that timely action may be taken
  • Ensuring that the Country Program Director and/or the OIC have timely & accurate information regarding the operation
  • Oversee the operations of the garage, fuel, and warehouses

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant should have attended accredited training in technical mechanics or a similar field
  • A minimum of five years of managerial or supervisory experience required
  • Good working knowledge of warehouses and fuel systems
  • Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power point required
  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at different locations as required
  • Strong analytical, communication and problem solving skills is necessary along with capacity to identify and articulate potential problems and provide possible solutions in concise and clear manner
  • Previous experience in working with international development partners, international nongovernmental organization (INGOs) and donors (in particular UNHCR experience) is an asset

About Us:

The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries established an Agricultural Investment Unit under the Department of Agricultural Investment and Enterprise Development. The major objective of the Unit is to assist in coordinating and promoting agribusiness, with emphasis on value addition and act as an initiative to link and create synergies between MAAIF (Public Policy / Regulation), the Private Sector and Development Partners on issues of promoting agribusiness and value addition.

Job Summary: The Accounts Assistant will support the Commissioner Agricultural Investment and Enterprise Development and the Principal Accountant-MAAIF in overseeing the unit’s day to day finances.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Maintain the Vote Book through entering requisitions under respective items.
  • The incumbent will make a follow up of requisitions for the Agricultural Investment Unit.
  • Prepare the payroll for all staff under the Agricultural Investment Unit.
  • Follow-up on advances for the Unit and ascertain that they are accounted for.
  • Keep regular basic accounting records.
  • In charge of the submission of accountability and co-ordination of any public audit exercises.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant for the Accounts Assistant job opportunity should hold a diploma in Accounts or Finance Management.
  • Possession of professional accounting qualifications are an added advantage.
  • A minimum of three years’ working experience as an Accounts Assistant from a recognized institution
  • Knowledge of the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS)
  • Knowledge in financial / accounting procedures of Government of Uganda programmes / projects;
  • Computer literacy and be proficiency in Microsoft Office;
  • Good financial management and budgeting skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Good planning skills;
  • Team work;
  • Proactive with the ability to work with minimum supervision;
  • Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements and books of accounts;

Job Summary: The Finance Manager will oversee the finances of the Uganda Country Programme. S/he will demonstrate understanding of organizational mission, vision, values, policies, procedures, and strategic goals as well as trust and teamwork in all aspects of Water For People business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Maintain the accounting system of Water for People Uganda consistent with financial regulations, rules, policies and procedures
  • Maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for users such as Headquarters, funding partners, and the Regional office in accordance with accounting principles and in the case of funding partners in accordance with contract agreements with funders
  • Facilitate efficient communication and process navigation between the Uganda CP, Regional office and Headquarters
  • Prepare and submit as per policy monthly financial results and manage the cash flow including preparation of cash flow forecasts and wire transfer requests in accordance with policy
  • Implement the financial procedures manual and ensure compliance to accounting policies and procedures by all staff
  • Prepare monthly payroll functions to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organization are met including filing of annual returns, submission of PAYE, NSSF and benefits remittances and other relevant taxes on time
  • Prepare all supporting information for the annual external audit, internal audits and donor specific audits and liaise with the Regional finance Manager, Headquarters and the external auditors as necessary
  • Reconcile bank and investment accounts
  • Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate Negotiate and manage the employee insurance and benefits plans
  • Prepare the annual budget in consultation with the Country Director, Program Manager and Regional Finance Manager
  • Support the Country Director and Programme Manager with the preparation of budgets for funding applications
  • Update and maintain financial records for each project including in-country funded projects in a manner that facilitates monthly management reports
  • Regularly monitor risk management policies and procedures to ensure that program and organizational risks are minimized
  • Effectively handle banking relationships, including negotiation of exchange rates
  • Maintain and oversee financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries and petty cash
  • Manage the documentation and maintenance of complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions
  • Oversee the bookkeeping function including maintenance of the general ledger accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll
  • Assist the partners of Water for people -Uganda as needed
  • Mentor and supervise Accounts assistant and ensure she effectively carries out her duties

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance/Accounting
  • Be a fully Certified/Chartered Accountant with ACCA /CPA
  • At least three to five years’ experience in a Managerial role in Accounting or Finance departments.
  • At least three years of non-profit accounting/finance experience.
  • Working knowledge of accounting software, preferably NetSuite
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of accounting, auditing, and financial reporting.
  • Previous experience in complex multi-currency transactions a plus.
  • Able to meet tight deadlines; must be able to work overtime periodically
  • excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated team leadership skills
  • High level of attention to detail, self-motivated
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Knowledge of companies Act, Income tax act and labor laws of Uganda
  • Proficiency in the use of computer programs for Accounting and Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

The Open Society Initiative for Eastern Africa (OSIEA) is implementing the health and rights program which advances health rights in the region and current areas of focus include maternal health, harm reduction, palliative care, access to medicines, and health rights of marginalized populations.

Job Summary: The Programme Officer: Democratic Governance and Rule Of Law will provide technical support in identification and fostering of effective grant making relations in a dynamic, creative and committed manner with a focus on OSIEA’s democratic governance and rule of law programming in the Eastern Africa region. The program officer will particularly focus on anti-corruption programming in the region.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Provide a bold vision for innovative work that will add value to the existing efforts in the region by identifying grant- making, operational, and advocacy strategies to advance democratic governance and the rule of in Eastern Africa, particularly in relation to anti-corruption.
  • The incumbent will collaborate within and beyond the program team, by building partnerships beyond OSIEA, to develop knowledge content, identify emerging trends, and conduct strong field assessments employing a rights-based lens.
  • Carry out relevant legal and policy analysis in the region for internal and external audiences.
  • Provide support in the identification of capacity and institutional development opportunities in partner organizations (grantees).
  • Support network/coalition/alliance building for joint advocacy with grantees and constituents targeting governments, donor agencies, service providers, and the general public.
  • Oversee administrative duties within the program and supervision of consultants.
  • In charge of reporting and budget management (portfolio reviews, monitoring programme budget and expenditure etc.)

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate should preferably hold an advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • At least six years of relevant work experience.
  • Broad knowledge and experience on human rights, democratic governance, and rule of law in the Eastern Africa context particularly in relation to anti-corruption.
  • Extraordinary initiative and creativity.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse array of people.
  • Good team spirit and respectful working and decision-making style.
  • Integrity, diplomacy and professionalism will be essential.

Job Summary: The Volunteer Advocate will support Restless Development in the implementation of the My Voice My Rights programme through leading the youth-led research and advocating for quality sexual and reproductive health services for young people.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicants for the Volunteer Advocate jobs should hold degree in any field or at least hold an A’ level certificate
  • The applicant must be committed to the principle of volunteering to support community development.
  • The jobholder should be a resident of either Jinja or Mayuge; and willing to work with in these Districts.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, or Interest in Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health issues and advocacy.
