Since its founding in 2002, IPA has worked with over 400 leading academics to conduct over 600 evaluations in 51 countries. This research has informed hundreds of successful programs that now impact millions of individuals worldwide.

Job Summary: The Research Associate (RA) will take a lead role in designing survey instruments, conducting qualitative and pilot exercises to inform study and/or questionnaire design, managing survey teams, ensuring data collection protocols are adhered to, ensuring data collected is of highest quality, delivering clean databases, assisting in preliminary analysis, assisting in the writing of project reports and policy memos, and managing communication and relationship with stakeholders (researchers, implementing partners, donors, etc…). The position requires excellent interpersonal and organization skills. It also requires proficiency with Stata software package.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) Research Associate job vacancy must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Statistics, Public Health, Social Sciences, Public Policy or related field. Master’s degree in economics, statistics, public policy, public health, social sciences, or related field is desired
  • At least one year of research project experience at a field research management or analyst position;
  • The Research Associate should be highly motivated and qualified with outstanding research project management, data analysis, people management and communication skills as Research Associates, to lead one of IPA Uganda’s upcoming studies.
  • Proficiency with Stata and Microsoft Office tools is necessary, particularly Word and Excel;
  • Excellent written communication skills;
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written;
  • Demonstrated commitment to IPA’s high standards of data quality;
  • Excellent management and organizational skills;
  • Proven ability to coordinate work effectively over email and phone
  • Flexible, self-motivating and team player;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with stakeholders (principal investigators, partner organizations);
  • Previous experience with ODK/Survey CTO programming language;
  • Knowledge of another data analysis or software is a plus;
  • Familiarity with randomized controlled trials is a strong plus;

Rakai Health Sciences Program is a collaborative Bio-medical research and service delivery organization. It strives to improve the quality of life of the local population through a combination of community based research, curative services and prevention strategies in the District of Rakai, South Western Uganda. It is based at the Uganda Virus Research Institute – Entebbe and Kalisizo in Rakai District.

About Study:

The Program, in collaboration with the AIDS Control program (ACP) of the Ministry of Health, has been funded to conduct the “Evaluation of the Impact of the National Program for Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT) in Uganda” study in 206 health facilities (HC IIIs, IIs, IVs) in districts.

Job Summary: The Data Management Officer  will be tasked with carrying out routine server based data management and reporting activities (data quality and completeness checks, routine and timely database updates, generate inconsistency and study progress reports for the attention of the study management team and Team supervisors, etc..). The incumbent will also provide technical assistance for mobile data collection on android phones. Data management and reporting applications have been designed by a contracted firm (Mobenzi).

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in IT, Statistics or BSc. Quantitative Economics (Hons).
  • Applicant should have obtained at least a principle pass grade “D” in Mathematics at A’ Level.
  • Previous exposure and experience in data management using SQL-SERVER, Fox Pro or Ms Access.
  • Prior experience in field data collection methods.
  • Analysis using STATA, SPSS or R will be an added advantage.
  • Pleasant, social, flexible, with good interpersonal skills and a spirit of team building/work
  • Highly self-motivated, able to work under minimum supervision and well organized
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability and willingness to work for extended hours
  • Fluent in English.

Job Summary: The Business & Reporting Analyst will provide business analysis, strategic planning, and performance analysis for the business; track, monitor and report on the overall corporate performance in an accurate, timely, relevant, consistent and informative manner for decision making.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Perform statistical and root cause analysis of data from different sources to identify gaps and propose resolution means.
  • Compile financial and non-financial information to external stakeholders including the regulatory entities, investors, lenders, Uganda Bureau of Statistics, Bank of Uganda, etc. as required by law, licenses and/or contracts
  • The jobholder will develop financial models to support analysis of a variety of financial and operating activities
  • Carry out research and benchmarks of the Company’s financial and operational performance against industry and peer Companies
  • Ensure consistency in the data and metrics to be reported on.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests for reports and information
  • Support in the development, coordination of the Annual Report and Annual Operating Plan
  • Support in compilation of the company KPI performance score card
  • Ensure timely and accurate compilation of periodic reports to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, or computer science
  • The jobholder should have completed level 2 of either CPA Uganda / ACCA
  • At least two years’ experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience in financial modelling, data analysis and reporting to management
  • Knowledge of databases, data extraction and statistical analysis tools is an added advantage

The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries established an Agricultural Investment Unit under the Department of Agricultural Investment and Enterprise Development. The major objective of the Unit is to assist in coordinating and promoting agribusiness, with emphasis on value addition and act as an initiative to link and create synergies between MAAIF (Public Policy / Regulation), the Private Sector and Development Partners on issues of promoting agribusiness and value addition.

Job Summary: The Programme Officer – Monitoring & Evaluation will be tasked with designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation activities of the project, in order to promote sustainable agribusiness value addition strategies

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Carrying out periodic reviews (at least quarterly) and assessment of identified agribusiness (value addition) enterprises of MAAIF, the Private Sector and Development Partners; and reporting to MAAIF management accordingly.
  • Actively participate in joint agriculture sector Monitoring & Evaluation (M & E) exercises.
  • Conduct strategic studies on value addition of key commodities.
  • Preparing and assessing periodic work plans, objectives, outputs and indicators for the Agricultural Investment Unit.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Senior Programme Officer – M & E.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant for the Programme Officer – Monitoring & Evaluation job opportunity should hold an Honors Bachelors’ Degree in Economics, Statistics, Business Administration, or related field from a recognized University/Institution;
  • Possession of a Post Graduate Qualification in Monitoring and Evaluation, from a recognized University/ Institution is an added advantage;
  • One year of experience at the level of Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant in Government or at equivalent level in a reputable Institution.
  • Adequate knowledge in monitoring and evaluation;
  • Strategic Thinking;

  • Possess good presentation and report writing skills

Job Summary: The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer of the Association and runs the day to day affairs of the Association that relate jdirectly to the objectives of the Association which entail the promotion, protection and coordination of the interest of industrialists in Uganda. In addition, the Executive Director is also the Secretary to the Board of Directors of UMA and that of thee Advisory Council of UMA.  Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Provide leadership to the UMA Secretariat Team as Chief Executive Officer charged with overseeing the management of all the affairs of UMA under the supervision of the Board of Directors of UMA;
  • Take lead of the UMA Secretariat Team in allactivities of UMA geared at ensuring that ensuring that UMA remains the watch dog and an effective mouth piece for all matters related to manufacturing through initiation of discussions and exchange of information among UMA Members on issues affecting industrialists and in so doing be able to advise Government of Uganda on key policies affecting manufacturing in Uganda, from time to time;
  • Manage and administer the activities, programs, trade and health fairs, networking activities, internships of UMA in a manner that promotes the interest of the Association from time to time, including availing accountability to the Board of UMA for all matters related to UMA;
  • Manage the UMA Secretariat physical infrastructure and human resources in a manner that promotes the ideals of the Association including doing so as guided by Policies and or oversight availed by the . Board of Directors of UMN Advisory Council;
  • Periodically up-date the Board of Directors of UMA about the activities of UMA. In this context, monthly Departmental Reports shall be generated by the respective Departments to feed into the activity briefs meant for the Board of Directors of UMA;
  • Support the Board of Directors of UMA in generating and implementing a Four Years Strategic Plan for UMA (2017-2021) that is well aligned to the National Vision 2040 and the Five Year National Development Plans therein.
  • Locate, establish, maintain and promote strategic collaborations with Government Ministries Departments and Agencies, Donor Agencies, Multilateral Organizations, Advocacy Groups, Private Sector bodies, Diplomatic Missions with the view to promoting manufacturing in Uganda
  • Undertake any delegated responsibilities that may from time to time be assigned by the UMA Board of Directors/Advisory Council from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate should hold a University Degree in Economics, Business Administration and Management, Law, Production Engineering, or Statistics. A Masters degree or any other post graduate qualifications in related areas of professional specialization may be of added advantage;
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the private sector in Uganda and the UMA activities and programs for a period of at least five years;
  • Extensive knowledge of Trade Policy issues that affect business and manufacturing in particular at a local, regional and international level for at least five years;
  • Desired candidate should have a strong understanding of Uganda’s Economy and the trading regimes that Uganda is associated with in so far as such trading regimes impact on manufacturing in Uganda;
  • The ideal candidate should have a Private sector employment background and proof of having served at a senior strategic decision taking level in credible private/public sector enterprises preferably involved in manufacturing or related to manufacturing for a period of at least five year;
  • The candidate should be industrious, level-headed, flexible, a good team player with excellent inter personal relations, ready to work under minimal supervision and committed to achieving set and agreed to tasks targets from time to time;
  • Strong and demonstrated oral and written communication capacity, noting that the vacancy at hand demand extensive internal and external engagements with various stakeholders in private and public sector from time to time;
  • Good knowledge in computer applications like MS Office;
  • Possession of good and demonstrated managerial skills and competencies that are key for the huge administrative responsibility that is attached to being the Chief Executive Officer of UMA;
  • Ugandan nationality
  • Age:  Between 40-55 years
