The staff also donated an assortment of items including; detergents, used chairs, cleaning brushes, brooms, moppers and other used items.

The Head of Consumer Banking with standard chartered bank Herman Kasekende Consumer commended the great work done by the Missionaries of the Poor .

While delivering his remarks the Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank Mr. Lamin Manjang thanked the Missionaries of the Poor for the work they do to provide for the underprivileged in the society and for giving hope to the hopeless and he pledged that the bank will continue to give Detergents to the missionaries of the poor to look after the poor.

While handing over the donated items to Missionaries of the Poor, the Standard Chartered Group Non Executive Director Mr. Richard Delbridge who is currently on a visit to Uganda praised for the work the Missionaries of the Poor do in Uganda in helping the poor to have Hope.

The Bank has maintained close ties with the Good Shepherd Home since the initial visit to the Home late last year in September 2010.

The Bank has since extended support to the Home by supplying it on a monthly basis with detergents like washing soap and washing powder to ensure the hygiene of the home and hinder the spread of infections to the over 500 residents.

The cost of the detergents supplied per month for the one year period committed comes to around 12 million shilling.

The Bank initially donated 12 (twelve) used computers to enable the smooth running of the day-to-day activities of the home and to enable the children acquire computer skills and be computer literate. This contribution was Standard Chartered Bank’s way of ensuring that the children raised in the home can compete favorably in this IT era
