Ms Jacqueline Wolfson, an American national has been deported from Uganda on allegations of violating immigration laws.

Jacqueline Wolfson is the Co-founder of Shule Foundation, a charity organisation that has been helping needy children access education in Uganda.

According to a statement by human rights lawyer, Mr Nicholas Opiyo, Ms Wolfson was arrested during the weekend and deported by the Ugandan authorities via a KLM flight out of Entebbe.

He described the accusations put on Wolfson of using her NGO to fund Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi  a.k.a Bobi Wine and his People Power Movement as baseless.

Mr Ofwono Opondo, the government spokesperson who also doubles as the Executive Director of Uganda Media Centre on Tuesday said that Ms Wolfson had been deported for alleged immigration law abuse.

“This is to inform the public that Jacqueline Wolfson holding a tourist visa, but passing as a charity giver under Shule Foundation has been removed from Uganda for violation of immigration laws,” he said. “Further, there is no record at immigration that Jacqueline Wolfsom has ever applied for a work permit since 2014 when she has been visiting Uganda,” Mr Opondo added.
