“Interaction between Breaking Waves and Three-dimensional Surface-piercing Structures”

Applications are invited for a research studentship leading to a PhD in Hydrodynamics at City University, London.

The post holder will undertake research on a Leverhulme Trust research project.

The title of the project is: “Interaction between Breaking Waves and Three-dimensional Surface-piercing Structures”. You should have skills and knowledge in the following areas:

o Nonlinear and/or breaking water waves,

o Interaction between water waves and structures,

o Finite Element and/or Meshless Methods

o Computing and Programming in Fortran, C or C++

In addition, he or she should have a good degree in Applied Mechanics, Applied Mathematics or Engineering Science and would be considered to be advantageous if having relevant and demonstrable research experience and some publications on international journals or conferences.

The studentship is offered averagely at the rate of £12,000 per year, plus tuition fees. The post is available immediately. International applicants are welcome.
