Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago
Kampala Lord mayor Salongo Erias Lukwago has officially written to the Chief Justice over the controversy surrounding his attempts to stand for mayoral election and nominations. In a letter copied to the speaker, EC, police, among others Lukwago is challenging the attempts by the Attorney general to both run in court and in parliament to silence his efforts to stand as per the new Kampala law that wants to scrap the post.
Meanwhile he confirmed that he has not been officially informed by electoral commission about the plans to cancel the Monday nominations describing it as mere idle talk. He says his plans are underway for Monday nominations.
