Buturo slams Otunnu over disrespecting police summons

By Walakira Nyanzi, Ultimate Media

The Minister of Uganda for Ethics and Integrity, Dr. James Nsaba Buturo has tongue lashed at the President of Uganda Peoples’ Congress, Dr. Olara Otunu describing him as indiscipline and not a potential leader. Otunnu recently announced to contest for President in 2011 general elections in Uganda.

Buturo accuses Otunnu of disrespecting police summons twice. Otunnu vowed not to appear before the Criminal Investigations Department.

The President of Uganda Peoples’ Congress was expected at the CID headquarters in Kampala today for questioning over statements he allegedly made recently in Lira accusing President Museveni of having financed LRA rebel activities in Northern Uganda.

Otunnu received fresh summons on Thursday evening this week after snubbing police summons in Kampala last week. On two occasions Otunu sent his lawyer, Elias Lukwago.

Dr. Buturo says Otunnu cannot be aspiring to become the head of state and disrespects police.

Lukwago has told Ultimate Media that Otunnu is legally free to disrespect police summons.

Lukwago says the offended person (Museveni) in Otunnu’s alleged statements had not recoded a statement at any police station in Uganda accusing Otunnu.

Lawyer Lukwago says unless Museveni goes to police, Otunnu will not appear before police. Buturo says Otunnu has registered a bad precedence and politicians and other Ugandans are going to start disrespecting police summons.
