Draru returns to court in August over murder of Gen. James Kazini

Lydia Draru, the woman who confessed to killing Maj. Gen. James Kazini will return to court on August 22 this year. Kazini was a former army commander.

According to documents at the High Court, Draru will appear before Justice Monica Mugenyi.

The prosecution says that Draru reportedly hit Kazini with an iron bar on the head and killed him on sport.

 

The prosecution says that Ms Draru committed the offence on November 10, 2009 at her rented home in Namuwongo in Kampala.

Draru has been on remand at Luzira Prison since November 16, 2009. Draru in her extrajudicial statement recorded before the Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate, John Patrick Wekesa, confessed to killing Kazini in self defence, claiming that the deceased was trying to strangle her.
