Kawempe Mayor Mubarak Munyagwa attacks Kampala Capital City Authority over accounts

Kawempe division Mayor Mubarak Munyagwa has attacked the executive director of Kampala capital city authority Jenifar Semakula Musisi of freezing the accounts of the division which he said has rendered non-operational.

Munyagwa while addressing the journalists in Kawempe today said all the divisions activities have been put on halt due to lack of money.

He cited the example of Kampala Capital city Authority clinic in the division which has been highly affected by this action.

Munyagwa says he has suspended the collection of the trade license tax as ordered by the executive director Jenifar Semakula Musisi because it was illegally re-introduced.

However the communication specialist in the office of the executive director Patrick Mugenyi clarified that according to the law governing Kampala Capital City Authority the executive director works as the new accounting officer of the division and therefore no money moves without her approval.

He added that any division to receive money it has to submit its financial plan to the executive director and once approved the money is sent to the division.

Mugenti also clarified that trade license where re-instated by the ministry of local government.

He further said there some illegal tax collectors in Kawempe division and they have liaise with the CID be apprehended.
