Kayihura says use of national IDs will only help criminals

 

Gen. Kayihura, who is in Rwanda to attend the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference that opened on Sunday, has said that the use of IDs as travel documents in East Africa will ease the movement of wrongdoers and give police Forces in the bloc added work to stop them from executing their plans.

Gen. Kayihura, a Ugandan with Rwandase origin made the remarks while giving a lecture on the “Role of Police in addressing violence and public order management” to students undergoing professional police academic courses in Rwanda.

The participants in the two day conference organised by the Rwanda National Police and IACP under the theme, “Contemporary Policing for a Safer World,” included chiefs of Police, members of IACP and senior Police officers. Kayihura further shared his knowledge, and expertise in crime handling, military and politics.
