Kiggundu Zirimala, a political rival to the former spokesperson of the democratic party, Betty Nambooze has withdrawn a court case that was seeking to force the party to declare him the DP flag bearer in Mukono North Parliamentary by-elections.

The by-elections will take place on 25th May 2o10.

Kiggundu told Justice Vincent Zehurikize of the Kampala High Court that he has withdrawn the case due to time constraints.

The nominations for candidates to participate in Mukono North Parliamentary by-elections kicked off on Monday and ends today April 28.

The Mukono North MP seat recently fell vacant after the Supreme Court nullified the election victory of Peter Bakaluba Mukasa due to  election malpractices in the 2006 polls.

Kiggundu Zirimala has now explored the option of contesting as an independent. He has been nominated today.
