According to Justine Kasule Lumumba, an outgoing member of the parliamentary Commission, the law provides for 3000cc car for a member of parliament which now goes to 192 million shillings.

In the 8th parliament MPs were given 60 million cash to procure vehicles of their choice but some members opted for cheap ones and saved some money. With this therefore is a proposal being floated to avoid diversion of the money by the members.

However the newly elected leader of the opposition in parliament Nandala Mafabi has strongly criticized the commission for purchasing such new expensive cars for what he called outrageous cost.

Mafabi by virtue of his new office is entitled to an official car says he will not take such an expensive car at the expense of tax payers money. He says he would be comfortable using his cars if necessary.
