President Museveni’s trip to Germany to boost trade, investment opportunities

Museveni visits Germany

President Yoweri Museveni arrived in the German Capital, Berlin for a two-day working visit to boost trade and investment opportunities for Uganda. During the visit the President will be guest-speaker at the German-Africa Business Day 2016.

Museveni in GermanyThe President, who made his maiden visit outside the country after his re-election, was received at Tegel North Military Airport by Uganda’s Ambassador to Germany Mr. Marcel Tibaluka, the Chairman of Africa-Veren, organizers of the German Africa Business Day Dr. Stefan Liebing, Uganda’s Honorary Consul in Hamburg Prof. Dr. Manfred Dietrich and African Ambassadors to Germany.

The German-African Business Day is a high level German entrepreneurial investment summit meant to harness Africa’s enormous economic potential and opportunities for the benefit and development of the African people. It also recognizes that African markets are becoming ever more important for Germany.

The President was accompanied by the Minister of Trade and Industry Hon. Amelia Kyambadde, the Executive Director of the Uganda Investment Authority Eng. Dr. Frank Sebbowa, officials from the Uganda Manufacturers Association and various officials from the tourism sector.
The German–African Business Association (Afrika-Verein der deutschen Wirtschaft) is the foreign trade association representing German companies and institutions with an interest in ‎Africa‬. Through its well-established networks, the Association promotes exchange between German and African representatives from both business and politics. In doing so, the Association advocates a new conception of Africa in Germany: Africa as a continent of opportunity. The Association provides information about countries and markets and represents the interests of its more than 600 members nationally and internationally with respect to political, economic and media issues. The Association positions itself as a competent contact point and contributes actively through political dialogue to setting the stage for the successful involvement of German business in Africa.

President Museveni received the Afrika-Verein Award for Excellence in Leadership from the German-Africa Business Association.
