Uganda health ministry dispatches 200 beds from DANIDA, UNDP

The ministry of health has dispatched over 200 beds to 15 districts around the country. The districts include Nakasongola, Masindi, Gulu, Kitgum and Teso, Arua, Tororo, Yumbe, Katakwi and  Dokolo. Other beneficiaries are Butalejja, Amuria,, Kaliro and Maracha among others.

The consignment is part of the 340 hospital beds procured by the ministry of health with support from DANIDA and the United Nations Population Fund.

It also included mattresses and other medical equipment like refrigerators, microscopes, cupboards, drugs, weighing scales which were this morning flagged off the minister of health Dr. Steven Malinga.

The Ministry of health acting permanent secretary Dr. Asuman Lukwago has challenged health officers in the districts receiving the equipment to guard them against theft and misuse.
