Uganda in need of witness protection law

The Directorate of Public Prosecution has requested Government to put in place a law that will protect Witnesses so that they can be at liberty to provide accurate information as investigations go on.

The Director Public Prosecution (DDP) Richard Butera told Parliamentarians that most witnesses fear to come out and tell the truth for fear of their lives because they’re not protected by the law.

He appealed for the enactment of Witness protection act if Government is fight cases related to especially Corruption.

Butera called for team work among the Parliamentarians and always handle matters related to criminal nature to other arms of Government so that they can share experience which will ease their work as lawmakers.
