A number of issues in the bill are still under contention like the issue of bride price hence delaying the enactment of the bill.

The UWOPA Coordinator Monica Amoding told journalists at Parliament today that one of the aims of the workshop is to unpack the Marriage and Divorce bill and address the issues of contention to enable UWOPA build the necessary support to enable the bill go through.

Amoding says UWOPA will continue organizing similar workshops aimed at engaging all stakeholders to rally their support for the bill.

If enacted, the bill is predicted by analysts to further reduce domestic related violence as women will be empowered both economically and in family decision making process.
